Fabulous Museum - Best in South America

Better known as Campo dos Afonsas home to Brazilian AF Museum (long white building bottom left) plus some active military - if you like old aircraft look a couple of miles to north for C-47 and C-119 (seperate sites) both in very good condition outside military buildings.....

Aeroporto de Guarapari.

Dentro da TMA Vitoria, a pista e bem pavimentada, opera diurno apenas, administrado pela

Prefeitura local, não tem hangaragem coberta, mas e muito bem cuidado e vigiado. A praia do Morro (infelizmente horrível) pode ser alcançada a pe, apenas alguns quarteirões. Não tem combustível de forma regular. A cabeceira 06 e turbulenta a maior parte do ano, causa apenas algum incomodo no pouso com vento nordeste (predominante). Gastronomia em Guarapari, frutos do mar, praia, experimente Bacutia, mergulho, vá aos naufrágios Belucia e Victory, fuja do argentino.

Facilidades do aeroporto

O aeroporto possui hangaragem coberta para pernoite, restaurante nos fins de semana, oficina homologada, hospedagem sob consulta, escola de pilotos. Telefone: 55-27-32601136, a freqüência de coordenação e a livre! Para entrada na TMA use a freqüência 119,85. As decolagens devem ter plano ou notificação de vôo, sala AIS SBVT 55-27-32356367. Meteo SBVT 55-27-32356339. SIVU não opera noturno. A CTR SBVT possui REAS. Pistas 05 e 23, asfalto 900 metros. Térmicas e pássaros sao freqüentes nas duas cabeceiras.

I don't believe SJXC is an ICAO id - ICAO ids for Brazil start with SB??. In DAFIF, it's SB56.

FRIENDLY PLACE

Nice airport for GA operations: A&P Services, Fuel Avgas and J-1, Hangars for overnight parking. Communications with Rio Preto Radio only in Portuguese. For overnight stay and to avoid high parking fees, park at the secondary ramp.

Future congestion?

This is the main airport for Sao Paulo. Unfortunately, it may get more congested if authorities decide to shut down its reliever, Congonhas (CGH), after the TAM Airbus crash there on July 17, since GRU will have to pick up the extra domestic flights.

After the fatal TAM Airbus crash on July 17 2007, some Brazilian officials are talking about closing the airport completely for evaluations and maybe resurfacing. Sao Paulo's main international airport is Guarulhos (GRU), but I think that CGH is used a lot for domestic flights, like La Guardia (LGA) in New York.
