Great Airport Beats Manchester and London Airports
This is a great airport to fly from, good people good facilities and good choice of scheduled and charter flights. Airport not to blame for luggage delays they do not provide luggage staff the airlines do.
viewing aircraft!
Hi there, I would like to know where you can watch planes safely without breaking the law or interfering with the airport security and police?
I have found 1 or 2 places. 1 is on the footbridge 117 over the railway line just to the north of the airport between Horley and Gatwick. 2 is also on a bridge 120 by the perimeter road (A23). On the footpath between Charlwood and Ifield Hall by the approach lights. Lastly another up on the hill by Russ Hill Hotel near Ifield Windmill. I hope this helps people!?
RUNWAY DETAILS
The main runways on this site are listed as 29/11 when in fact they've been 28/10 for nearly 5 years now...
Propeller Inn is Fab
Flew into Bembridge yesterday with the Miss's. Had an absolutely 1st class meal at the Propeller - it's a must do. Sea Bass and Duck - just delicious. And only £15 to land. Beats the alternatives.

Landing on 04
If your in a low wing and trying to land on 04, then you need to hit the threshold, or you sink rate = the slop of the runway!!!
Try not to stamp on the breaks too!
Trees
It was a very windy night that they all just seemed to fall over.
Sad sad sad!
I was the last aircraft to fly out of West Malling, it was a very sad day :(

Visit
Hello Phil,
My name is Roy Chapman. I live in Bournemouth.
On Friday I will be travelling to Cornwall for the Porthtowan fly in. ( I will be travelling by road).
I would be very grateful if someone could spare me 5 minutes in order to view the aircraft at Pymore.
Many thanks in advance.
Roy
No longer there
This airstrip no longer exists. The area is now being developed as an industrial park similar to that immediately to the east.
Great Cafe and a cheap date for kids
Great place to feed kids and you can legally stand on the footpath at the threshold of runway 06 which is fabulous fun especially if that's the runway in use.
New British Airways service to Aalborg and Billund
The British Airways franchisee, Sun-Air of Scandinavia, are introducing a new Danish route from Humberside Airport on 17th April 2016. It will operate to Aalborg and Billund on Sundays and Fridays until the autumn of 2016, when a third rotation is planned. There are hopes that further rotations will be added next year.

Scampton surprize !
Is the site of the RAF Fire Fighting Museum. Need to watch for open days or organise a trip. See the equipment and crash Trucks that kept the aircraft able to fly from WW1 through WW2 and today, really well presented museum and the vehicles are amazing - because my father drove one the Alvis Mk6 is my favourite and excellently presented.
YAY
what I want to say about merryweather airport.
FSX simulator version
Lovely little airfield, I often land here in the simulator.

There's an aircraft (glider?) visible on the runway if you zoom in.
Listed separately from RAF Breighton
Although this airstrip is immediately adjacent to the (now closed) RAF Breighton, it uses a separate runway from the original, which is still visible.
Confusing situation...
This is the western part of the former RAF base, including the North-South runway. It is operated by the Ouse Gliding Club. The Eastern part is operated separately by the "York Flying Club".
Closed in 2015
Closed on 2015-03-01 for redevelopment.
Northrepps Diner
Recommend excellent weekend 'Pilots Breakfast' worth stopping in for!
RAF Bisterne
Now long disused, this airfield formed part of the Airfields of the New Forest during WW2. It was a temporary airfield mainly for the protection of the ports along the South Coast and for interdiction strikes into German held Europe prior to the Nomandy Landings. Very little remains today
History
Cricklewood Aerodrome was built in 1912 to support the Handley Page factory in Cricklewood, London, England. Handley Page Transport operated service to Paris from here until merging into Imperial Airways in 1924. The airfield was closed in 1929. Currently the area is built up almost completely with residential homes. The original reception hall and some of the Handley Page aircraft factory still remain as commercial real estate.
Lovely place
home of London's budding pilots
Tube Connex
The Tube connections are really handy for getting out and into the heart of the city. Very efficient.
RAF Waddington

Hilton to open a hotel on the Humberside Airport site
The first hotel at Humberside Airport was opened as recently as 2010. It is called Nightel and was designed specifically for people working on the North Sea gas field production rigs (which are serviced by fleets of helicopters from the airport). It has been so successful that the operators are building a new hotel for use by the general public. It will carry Hilton branding and is due to be opened in mid 2016.
day out with great grand children
very often take my great grad children here for the day the love watching the planes and helicopter taking of and landing plus with cafe just below the tower with ice cream sweets and burger and chips just to annoy my there parents

One of the great airports in the world
BognorRegis My home town.
I always wondered why I was born in Bognor Regis, now it makes sense to me. My parents were Lived in London until just after the war (my mother born in London and my Father born near his ancestral home of Ely, but grew up in West Ham). My Father was a Fighter pilot during the Second world War and in 1945 his was with 83 G.S.U. training on Typhoon fighters to go to the far east for the fight against the Japanese. At this time 83 G.S.U. was stationed at Bognor then Westhampnet (Goodwood today). So this would explain where My parents got the notion to move to Bognor Regis. My father had spent time there and knew what it was like.

— Anonymous Flyer at Upavon Aerodrome, United Kingdom
Reply to @ChrisM: We must have met. I went solo during that year. I was introduced by fellow Hull guys Colin Wray and David Ellis. We were on Fitters (Wireless and Radar) courses at Yatesbury. I hope you see this blog, as I see your entry is back in 2011! I remember one day, flying was suspended when some Groupie came with his autogiro and gave a demo. I understand it was used by him in Bond films. Brian Norton.
