Demand for the airport is expected to reach 37 million annual passengers by 2050, which would then require a second parallel runway. The airport is then expected to reach its ultimate capacity of 82 million annual passengers by 2063.
To handle the future growth and capacity, future stages of the airport are expected to include:
Expansion of the terminal building or additional terminals
Second parallel runway (05R/23L) at the southern side of the airport precinct, to be located approximately 1,900 metres (6,200 ft) from the first runway (05L/23R)
