Hope our political leaders and academicians have awakened and their efforts towards jeypore airport will be effective. In this globalised era it is highly essential to have a perfect way of air-communication through which one can do his work expeditiously. Jeypore is a place which surrounds 4 districts with lots of factories, industries, colleges and universities so it is our sincere request to government of odisha as well as indian government to take an immediate action in this regard......
Please start the airport soon, India is developing, I remember 1990 Vyudoot was flying and It was proudful for me. May be one day I will take the advantage of it but unfortunately it has been defunct, Now a days I live in London since last 10 years and in these years I have to my home (Malkangiri) only twice. Because from London to Delhi/mumbai takes only 8 hrs 30 minutes, and from Delhi or Mumbai to Malkangiri takes 40 hours. so can you imagine how usefull the airport. Even the Jagdalpur airport is out of service. So Pleasee develop KORAPUT and provide service for the public. Please wake up the Orissian politicians. wake up. Do something please.
The callous and lethargic attitude of our local politicians have taken a heavy toll on the development plans of Jeypore region. The airstrip at Jeypore was built in the year 1962 and by now it should have been a key air connectivity centre in the tribal hinterland. 25 years back Vayudoot airlines conducted regular flights from Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam and Raipur and now there's no service thanks to our shameless politicians. By now there should have been at least a daily flight each from BBSR, Vizag and Raipur given the number of people travelling to those places on a daily basis for business, trade and other official activities. The only train that plies between BBSR and Jyp is insufficient to handle the passengers and generally overcrowded. Hence it is imperative that the airstrip at Jeypore should be developed immediately to handle at least three daily flights so that people from the region and also the neihbouring Chhatisgarh, could benefit immensely.
Hearty news for the people of Jeypore and the surrounding areas. Jeypore Airport is going to be developed at a cost of 2.53 crore and the work will start during November 2011. Plans are also afoot to develop the Airport to handle 16 seater aircraft and the plan has been sent to Airport Authority of India for approval. In future the airport is to be built in an area of 800 acres of land from the present 54 acres. So in next two years people of Jeypore will be travelling by air.
why there is air port with out airline services in orissa.
This is located amidst hills and valleys in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape. No aircraft comes or goes now a days on regular basis. Some years back it was connected to Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam by tri-weekly commercial service of the now defunct Vayudoot. They were small Dornier aircrafts.Hopefully someday this airport will again see commercial flights .Jeypore town , which is serviced by this airport, is as beautiful as any of the best hill stations.
