The old VNCs on the wall at Rockcliffe show St. AndrΓ©-Avellin airport at this spot, further north of the town than the present field.

Seen on an old VNC (unknown date, mounted on wall at Rockcliffe Flying Club). Recent satellite image shows a mowed grass runway and parked aircraft.

Straight skis
Winter flying
Hi Iβm wondering the condition of the runways during winter and if you can land and take off with straight floats ? And if so is there a contact to line up a place to tie down or even better hangar space for rent perhaps . Thanks
BCATP relief field
From @FlyingTom in a problem report:
This triangular field was RCAF Detachment Granum (for the nearby town) and was the #1 relief field for No. 7 Service Flying Training School at Fort Macleod.

Well hello fellow Ham Radio operator!!
I am just learning to fly and checking out this website to learn all the airports and airfields in the south of Alberta.
Last time I was in to Drumheller was to meet aviation friends, but we drove in. Loved the airport and the staff hanging around , had a lovely lunch...rats can't remember the place in town, then went through The Royal Tyrell Museum....very interesting indeed!! Keep the Shiny Side Up!!! Caroline
BCATP
What a great old airport!!! She was built in the 1940's as a British Commonwealth Air Training Plan airport for the boys to learn how to fly those big bombers!! It is sad to see most of those old gals in Alberta have disappeared........they must have been something to see all across Canada!!! Too bad that most of them have not been maintained!! CEN4 - High River has been plowed under, but Google earth still shows her triangle!!! Want to do some history search?? Go slowly over each Province and look for that tell tale triangle!!! Safe flying out there!!!! Caroline
AGREE with others - BETTER places to go.....
Small facility, poor airstrip, local area boring, no ground transportation. NOTL (CYSN) has much more to offer by a wide margin.
Nice facility
Went to the annual BBQ lunch Aug. 27, 2021. Great terminal and runway. Very nice local folks. Great to have the self serve fuel as well.

Visited May 31, 2021. Courtesy car available, but we didnβt use it. Terminal entry door for pilots is on parking lot side of building.

Terminal interior is being renovated. Looks like a few year job. Runway is very good.
Needs TLC
The terminal building really needs some cleaning and TLC. Runway is in good shape.
Great Facility
Visited April 2021. Friendly "manager", helped with self serve fuel. Courtesy vehicle available. Great dinosaur museum in town.
