Opened Feb 1942 as satellite to RAF Coningsby Hosted 97 Sqn, 617 Sqn, later 629 & others—all into the Dambusters lore Post-WWII: Assembly point for Tiger Force, then No. 92 Maintenance Unit stored bombs here From late 1950s to 1964: Bristol Bloodhound missiles stationed here; then engine testing site into the 1980s–2000s Later: Gravel quarry, then rescued by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust in 2015 to become Woodhall Spa Airfield Nature Reserve — now peaceful green haven with memorials
