The drive to PDX was peaceful, the bridges over the Willamette River shrouded in the soft glow of city lights. He parked, walked through the quiet terminal, and greeted his co-pilot with a nod. “Morning, Dan. Looks like we’ve got some weather coming in.” Daniel smirked. “What’s new? Portland wouldn’t be Portland without a little challenge.” After a quick pre-flight briefing, he made his way to the cockpit. The Boeing 737 was home to him—a place where instinct and training blended seamlessly. He ran through his checklist, feeling the familiar sense of focus and calm settle in. Once airborne, Portland faded beneath him, the city’s green landscape giving way to the vast, open sky. This was the part he loved the most—freedom.
