1. Valley entry

enter via:

Val Ferret (Italy or Switzerland)

low altitude → gradual climb

2. Reconnaissance (essential)

first high pass (300–500 ft above)

check:

slope

wind (snow drift indications)

crevasses

3. Direction choice

Always:

land into the wind

BUT also:

land uphill (uphill landing)

n the mountains this is more important than the runway itself

4. Final approach

short and direct

no guaranteed go-around.

A very dangerous area for landings, and difficult even for experienced mountain pilots. Yet, from time to time, someone still lands there or performs a touch-and-go without leaving any documentation of the landing spot or the type of approach used
