Misplaced marker

I've moved this to the apparent SW-NE runway several km east of town. Marker *had* been in town where there is clearly no airport.

Airport closed

Google Earth (5/2001) shows the runway was a 400 m straight stretch of dirt road. Current Google Earth shows houses now built along the roadside.

There is no airport at this location

Having just returned from Limon on a visit that walked by this location I can confidently state that there is no airport at the marked location. So far as I know there is no airport anywhere in Limon.

Locals told me that there is a private landing strip some miles away, or at least there used to be, but I don't know exactly where nor whether it is still there.

Servicio al Cliente ( Customer Service)

HONDURAS, C.A

Runway designations?

I don't think "N75E" is a valid runway designation.

International flights may move

The Honduras government wants to move international flights to Tegucigalpa from ToncontĂn to the Soto Cano Air Base (XPL), which already hosted them temporarily earlier in 2008. Smaller planes and domestic flights would continue to use ToncontĂn. There's no schedule for the change, yet.

New international airport

The Honduras government wants to convert this base to be Tegucigalpa's new international airport (it already served that role temporarily earlier in 2008), while ToncontĂn (TGU) will server only smaller aircraft and domestic flights.
