There is another airstrip less than 2 km away called Ishkashim Airport (OAEM), just across the Afghanistan border. They're the same name, following different transliteration practices.
Was there in February and found at the airport the customs offers were great and very helpful. It's an amazing place and the people are so friendly. Especially my wife who is from there. To the people of Tajikistan thank you and you made a New Zealander most welcome too your country I thank you. My wife and I shell return.
Wow... That is some approach to the airport! I wouldn't like to do it in IFR let along VFR conditions! That looks like a deadly approach if you mess it up haha
