low flying aricraft

I am contacting the ombudsman regarding the small aircraft which is flying way too low and too often above my house. You guys know it is illegal so stop now before you get fined and told to stop.

No rRunway at Cudal

There is no longer a runway at Cudal. The runway is now used for the display of tractors.

re: pissed off local

Really sick of the whirring sound of people whinging after they buy houses near airports (with the market prices reflecting that fact) only to start bleating about aircraft noise. Be more observant next time or go jump in the ocean.

Picture of

pissed off local

Really sick of the whirring sound of the planes flying over head, low flying aircraft, the early wake up on saturdays and sundays. too many bloody planes over Myocum. Stay home guys or fly over the ocean.

Refuelling

In January 2012 I experienced the fact refueling service became expensive. We called them for fuel prices which we got. When we arrived they claimed 50AUD opening fee without having told us. No chance to talk to the service man. Better find another airfield for refueling.

Lake Keepit Soaring Club welcomes visitors

keepitsoaring dot com

Lake Keepit Soaring Club is run by club members so the costs are kept to a minimum. Visitors most welcome!

7 day a week, all year round (fantastic) gliding operations.

Excellent on-site and local accomodation

The terrain around the club is varied and interesting and there are literally dozens of airstrips and other outlanding opportunities around.

There's a good fleet of modern, well maintained aircraft or you're welcome to bring your own glider.

The Marker on 'ourairports' map is incorrectly shown on a dam wall, Lake Keepit airfield is 1km to North East at S 30.891000ΒΊ, E 150.526000ΒΊ

re: Story about midair collision

Reply to @david:

I completed my CPL and ME-IFR out of Bankstown. I then logged over 1000 hours teaching VFR students. The essence is to look outside the cockpit when approaching any airport and particularly an inbound reporting point such as 2RN (radio mast) or Prospect Reservoir at a busy GA training centre. With so much available as pilot aids, GPS and Traffic Warnings, it is too easy to be distracted by what's displayed INSIDE the cockpit while the actual danger is OUTSIDE. Under VFR, the PIC is responsible for separation. 2RN is difficult to see in some conditions but the instructors (one is each plane) know the cues for finding it and need to explain that to the students, all while looking outside the cockpit!

re: Is this a commercial airport ???

I don't know if the airport is legal for commercial operations like charter, flight training, or crop-dusting, but it doesn't have any scheduled airline service.

Where else to go and practice/learn how to fly???

I am a student pilot as well - learning helicopters. Now I suppose we could have an airport in the middle of nowhere, but how do you get there?? Bankstown isn't close (I live near the City), but certainly closer than Camden. I mean, this is Australia and we fly here. So... where else to go???

Confusing aircraft placement. I've got to assume that YWIO is the same as Picton for which I can not find an airport code. The map is so close.

re: Airport or helipad ?

Reply to @Zoran: Absolutely right -- I checked the Australia AIP online to confirm, then edited the listing.

Airport or helipad ?

It doesn't look like an airport. Perhaps it's mean Westmead Hospital helipad (33.8052 S, 150.9892 E) ?

re: Location on Google is wrong

Thanks -- I've moved the airport marker.

Picture of

Location on Google is wrong

The Google marker is showing the wrong locaton. The airstrip is actually about 7km west of where it is marked. If you look at the township of Cabramurra, the airstrip is about 2km NE of the township - you can see it pretty obvious on the satellite photo. Half of the airstrip is a bitumen surface, the rest is hard packed gravel, and there is a now a cloud seeding testign staton adjacent to the airstrip (as well as a weather station which has been there since around 1960).
