Misleading information about Meredith Airport
There is no such thing as Meredith Airport. The proper name should be Lethbridge Airpark, Lethbridge, Victoria. Some how this information has been misleading Google Maps to have their place label wrongly for Lethbridge Airpark. This causes great grief for Mr. Baum, the owner of Lethbridge Airpark and to the members of Geelong Sports Aviators (aero club) who uses Google Maps.
Can someone of this website delete any reference of Meredith Airport please? We will thank you dearly.
Be prepared!!
If you're hoping for a quick trip through Customs/Immigration think on!! Unless things have changed greatly in the last couple of years be prepared for a couple of hours wait!! ...... and declare EVERYTHING!!

Flown in there a few times, fuel very expensive, runways very rough and un even, and the owners just wanting your cash $$$$$$ Beware !!

Kaniva Airport
On NE corner of township- not SE as shown on Google maps. 06/24 & 15/33 or thereabouts, Elevation around 4- 500ft, 600m long each. Runway markings present but foot long grass hides them. Sheep grazing & power lines on approach's. 10 minute walk into town for food/ drinks. Practically suitable for tailwheel a/c only. A great find halfway between Adl & Mel for a pitstop. Wimmera council information tempered with one arrival/ departure practical experience.

We welcome all pilots flying into our airport!
If you need to be in Melbourne for a short period of time, we are able to accommodate hangarage, providing your aircraft is suitable, (recreational aircraft only)
Our Avgas prices are either comparable to Point Cook or slightly cheaper, and it is correct, landing fees are waivered if you are refuelling, or getting hangarage for your short stay.

re: Best aeroclub around.
I agree ,it is great airport. You can use the grass during the summer.Ring the club during winter months for serviceability.runway 17/35 good for x/wind training.Sadly moorabbin airport is being screwed by the government and MAC,so its refreshing to come to Tyabb...Capt Bob
NOTE:
Don't confuse Romsey with Riddell/Penfield. This is why you are finding difficulty. There are about a dozen landing areas in close proximity.
Correct: Romsey YRSY
The photo is correct as are some of the comments. I was flying my RV8 for the first time on delivery from Parafield and it is true that the data in my EFIS was off in Port Phillip Bay. I have my RV8 hangared at Romsey. TO orientate yourself be sure to identify the Defence Vehicle Proving grounds. It is north and adjacent. Coordinates are: S37 23 30.00 and E144 44 18.00. Frequency: 126.7 Elev: 1500
Runway Condition
I went & inspected the East-West runway by foot to see if it was suitable to land there on my next visit. The runway is clay/dirt, 1.5 car width, narrow, with a slight undulation along it. There are rocks that protrude from the surface, but nothing that a standard or heavy duty aircraft wheel would not be able to handle. You could only turn around at the runway thresholds.
There are no services out there. An unlocked gate to get to the airfield, but then another gate is locked at access to hangar and tarmac parking. It may be a private airport now, but best to phone the Castlemaine Council. It would actually be a great airfield if runway condition better.
I did not get to observe the North-South runway, but as I drove away, it did not look like it was operational, as of Dec. 2011.
Mount Beauty
Once landed you can walk up to the town centre - great Bakeries etc. and Mount Beauty is a nice town especially on a blue sky day!
re: Correct IATA code?
Reply to @tfmorris: removed the IATI code - thanks for the update.
re: CTAF Incorrect
Thank you - I have verified the frequency in the Australian AIP and updated it for the pilot-info page.
re: re: THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
Reply to @david: Yeah, I made some sort of paste error when I saw the subdivision.
re: THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
Reply to @ptomblin: that's the same location I found in the Australian AIP (you just have to make the latitude negative).
re: THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
Reply to @david: My Eurocontrol data gives the lat/long as 37.391667 | 144.738333, but I don't see anything there except a subdivision.
re: THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
Found YRSY in the Australian AIP and corrected to the latitude/longitude listed there.
re: THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
Thanks. Online databases seem to have a tough time with this airport. The first one I consulted (as well as Google Maps) put it in the middle of the ocean. A different source I found gave this location, which at least actually has an airport shown. So
1. Does anyone know the correct lat/lon for Romsey?
2. Does anyone know what airport is shown here? YPEF?
THIS IS NOT ROMSEY
ROMSEY *YRSY is not this airfield. Romsey is about 8 km further north, zoom in north of Monegeeta for the real ROMSEY.
any flights to king island????
can i catch a plane to king island from there?
re: field elevation!!!
Thanks for the warning. There are a batch of smaller Australian airports where the elevation in meters was labelled as feet in a free dataset at some point in the past, and that data has made its way to many aviation web sites, including OurAirports. We're fixing the problems as we find them, and I've updated Kyneton now.
Feel free to point out any more problems, or even better, create a free OurAirports account and you'll be able to edit the airport information directly.
Thanks again!
Casterton airfield
This airport is a single unsealed runway and is akin to landing & taking off from an aircraft carrier. eg: ~
field elevation!!!
Hi guys,
Think you need to check the field elevation on the pilot info page, unless the runway is underground,
Cheers,
Mike
great place
I called in there the other day and was made very welcome. great coffee there ,fuel available, great scenery and nice people .
CTAF Incorrect
CTAF is listed as 125.9 MHz should read 128.0 MHz
Correct IATA code?
Wikipedia seems to think that SXE belongs to the RAAF base at East Sale while the OurAirports DB has SXE associated with both (shouldn't this be a unique key?).
