Been stuck here at the airport due to flood
TIF
I also did my TIF there, had a ball. There were no hassles for me.
:)
re: plane crash
I think you have the wrong airport
re: Fools at the airport
Reply to @passerthrough:
Pop in anytime for a coffee and a chat. maybe we can sort out your problem as all aricraft operating from YBRS have and use radios.
wok experience
is it possible to have work experience at tyabb??
noise at Baxter
nothing to do with Tyabb it was hellicopter traffic going to bike races at Phillip Island
Incorrect Elevation
YMBT is actually 1100' AMSL. Refer ERSA, plus I've landed there.
re: Closed?
Reply to @david
Yes - Berwick closed in 1995-96. Is now a university campus, though some remnants of the runway can stillbe seen, along with a couple of hangars.:
re: Closed?
Reply to @david:
Yes Pakenham is now closed. A freeway runs along what was the east-west runway.
Noise
Its 09pm and my roof is shuddering from aircraft going over and im in Baxter it even worse at 11 and 12 at night whats going on????
Closed?
Received a report that this airport is closed, and the satellite view seems to confirm that.
Closed?
I received an e-mail that this airport is closed and that there's a road through it. I can see no evidence of the road in the satellite shot, but the "Map" view does show a road crossing the runway. I've marked it as closed for now - can any locals confirm?
re: One runway only
Reply to @ptomblin: I'll assume for now that that is the correct location.
re: One runway only
If you click "Show Points of Interest", is that marker on what you mean?
One runway only
The location on the picture is due south of the aeroplane icon. You can see the east/west runway just north of the buildings and hedgeline. It is actually at the CFA training facility.
Trawalla Airstrip
Located at Dynamic Flight Shool CTAF 126.7
great place
did my tif at barwon heads it was great ,nice people, looking forward to my next lesson ,great place ,couldn't think of a place with better views to learn to fly.
Kyneton Aerodrome
Kyneton Aerodrome is a regional airport which is home to the Kyneton Aero Club and a base for many privately owned aircraft
re: Best aeroclub around.
Bloody narrow strip though, makes it a bit harder to judge your approach than average. Otherwise, good facilities and nice people.
Geelong
A small airfield adjecent to avalon airfield
Best aeroclub around.
This is my home aerodrome and its brilliant. If you ever get a chance to visit, do! Please note all circuits are to the east due to the 'fly neighborly' policy.
re: DH104 at YWAN
hi, just checking out the net and saw your request about the Dove at Wallan airfeild, the bad news is the engines were removed and sold on and the rest was sold to a collector, who collects old things, pity it ended up that way, it was a nice old girl, bit of a bitch to land in a good crosswind due to the riley conversion on the rudder slightly smaller than the normal rudder, there is one at the Morrabbin musem at morrabbin airport victoria, they might like to sell there`s as its only a static display rego VH-ABM,
regards
Steve
re: Location
Thanks -- I've updated the page with the correct name (and a link to the airport's web site).
Location
well technically its sunbury Airfield

A dup?
There is another Lakes Entrance Airport (YLKE) 2nm away.
Hmmm
I don't see an airport here.
Closed
This Airport is now closed.. Permenently..
For redevelopment.
Fools at the airport
probably the most small minded arrogant fools I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
Very dangerous place to fly due to the ultralights without radio doing as they please, and the idiots based there that think they are gods gift to aviation and hang around in small groups insulting pilots. Normally found in the bar flying....... because they can't in real life.
Don't bother stopping there unless you want to be insulted by fools.
Great airport
The runways are very easy to land on and there isn't has much traffic.
Re: Dunolly
I have my doubts about several of the airports that came from that particular user. I've got 529 Australian airports from him, so I'm reluctant to delete them all, but I'm also reluctant to verify them all.
re: Dunolly airstrip
I agree -- I can find no evidence anywhere that this airport exists. It came in some user-supplied data from navaid.com, but I'll probably delete it unless someone has a better source.
Dunolly airstrip
So where is it? The coordinates seem to put me into a hillside of trees.
I can't seem to locate the airstrip in the surrounding area even though Google Earth is high definition.

plane crash
a very dangerous place for joyflights never go there
The reason why I want a PPL
Or at least something to look forward to !
Every year Phillip Island is home to the Australian Moto Grand Prix. In October 2004 I rode there with a mate all the way down from Sydney to attend the Grand Prix and witness Valentino Rossi historic win on the Yamaha, claiming back-to-back championships on two differents bikes (he won the 2003 championship on a Honda).
It's a very scenic but also a very long way from Sydney (we got there via Princes Hwy, and back via the Great Alpine Road which caused some overenthusiastic riding and subsequently claimed the life of a soft-compound rear tyre).
I sold my bike 2 years ago and when I resumed flying, I made it an objective to get my PPL in time for the 2007 MotoGP in order to fly there (safely). I am not flying often enough to reach that objective though.
Still, am going this year, flying commercial via Melbourne, and will fly there as a PPL pilot in 2008 (hopefully)
SHT
A really friendly airport.
PTJ
Interesting weather in winter.
MBW
Back in the 60's this was the busiest airport in the southern hemisphere (by aircraft movements - most were training flights). Much quieter these days.
MQL
The best city in Victoria in winter.
HLT
Birthplace of Ansett Airlines.
ECH
Very historic town. Visit the paddlesteamers.
BSJ
Former WWII training airfield.
WGT
A real shame that the Airworld museum closed down.
MEB
Very handy for bizjets.
AVV
A handy alternate to Melbourne.
GOANA Air Safari
Flew here with a GOANA air safari trip in 02 - each couple flew their own Cessna 172. Very picturesque little rural Australian town. Spent time walking around the old part of town and had supper on a riverboat - we were told that all towns in Australia are like this :P

I hope there's WiFi and a decent restaurant, at least.
