What year did Baldwin Open?
What year did Baldwin Airport open 1958?
Amazing
Took the family to visit Upper Canada village . We landed in Morrisburg . Very nice airport , excellent paved runway . The grass to the sides was kept very trim and neat and a cable was conveniently laid across the parking area making tie down very easy . A short walk ,even with a 3 year old and 6 year old brought us to the Upper Canada Village site .Picnic areas , beach , as well as a golf course are all within a very short walk as well. A shame more pilots don't know about this wonderful airport .

Nice facility
I recently landed at Dwight with my C340.
I was very surprised at the high terrain and trees at the approach end of 27 and 02.
The grass is not smooth but tufts of grass separated by dirt. Still very safe but noisy .
Be careful at the approach END of 27 as it is sandy and soft. I got stuck but very helpful workers towed me out.
Beautiful countryside and very cooperative enterprise Car Rental in Huntsville.

Avgas requires 24 hrs notice...
Upper Blackville Airport
Closed! Oh no, that's where we used to fly Ted Williams into years ago.
Taxis
YVR taxi waits are ridiculous There are taxis waiting but they canβt gat them to the terminal. Itβs complete chaos and incompetence

3% grade. Land rwy 12. T/O rwy 30 unless winds dictate otherwise.

P.S. The marker is a half mile north west of the actual airstrip.
Mule Creek
Mule Creek is a 4000X75 emergency grass strip. It is littered with gofer holes, but usable for bush planes. The Haines highway gets socked in quite a bit, so it is nice to have this option.

Belleville Aerodrome CNU4 is not closed and is still owned and operated by David Byrd under the existing PPR.
Wind sock
I drove by the field this afternoon and there is a working wind sock here, in good looking condition.
Aircraft maintenance?
Does anybody do aircraft maintenance at Josephberg?
RUNWAY NUMBERS
This is my home base and the runways numbered 4 and 22 are in fact 5 and 23. Can you make the necessary corrections please?. Thank you.

Best Systems Ever
This airport has the best systems I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure they have a great Business Analyst behind most of them
YSH 334 kHz Video
I made a video of the YSH Non-Directional Beacon (NDB) which transmits on the frequency of 334 kHz near the transmitter site at the end of Empress Avenue in Smiths Falls on the night of March 3, 2018.
YSH Morse ID with 5 second dash in between Morse id's. -.-- ... ....
Luggage
Luggage retrieval is the absolutely worst of ANY airport in the world. We have waited over 40 minutes and still no luggage . In any other airport and I have travelled the world luggage is available within 20 minutes . In Winnipeg it was there by the time we arrived at the carousel. What is the problem in Vancouver. You are advertising good new things coming to YVR I suggest better faster baggage handling
Annual BBQ or get together for fly-in ?
Hello Wayne, I recently flew into your airpark and though with the amount of hangsr space that you would hold an annual event. If you have a get together, plese let me know, thanks
Passport control
Coming back from abroad, standing in avery long line with over a hundred people ahead of me. The new system is very insufficient and slow. Multiple airport clerks walking around looking busy doing nothing. It feels like an international airport was not ready to receive multiple flights.

re: re: Why no Uber or Lyft?
Your points are correct only to a degree - you exaggerate on every item presented. As one who uses taxis at YVR regularly, I have only once had a delay in the past year. I do agree that the airport could do with more taxis available especially with late evening arrivals.
Why no Uber or Lyft?
Lineups for taxis- but no taxis.....
Lots full of taxis- but none for patrons......
If you can get a cab, you are often refused a ride because βI donβt go thereβ.....
Why no Uber or Lyft? It might smarten up the rip off taxi companies.
Canβt you clean?
Iβve been through at least 40 airports, all over the world.
YVR has some of the nicest washrooms, but with the poorest cleaning. Iβve been through here multiple times, and rarely seen anything different. Urinals that havenβt been cleaned under since.... well... who knows when. Paper dispensers empty. Usually more than half. Garbage chutes overflowing. No soap in the fancy automatic dispensers. Unwashed floors.
I just used one that had been cleaned in the last half hour( so the paper says), and EVERY urinal had a dirty floor under it.
Whereβs the quality control? Is there a manager actually checking?
Sheesh- canβt this beautiful airport do better?

Itβs also a afb

This air strip still exists and is used by private planes, even though it's not official maintained.

I have not found much information on this airport other than it seems to be an abandoned location sometime in the 1960s. The Smith River airport holds the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in British Columbia (recorded in 1947).
It's winter, you need to de-ice aircraft!
Man you kids are dropping the ball!
Who is incharge of this debacle called YVR?
3 hours into a 5 hour flight cause you clowns can't have enough de-icing equipment to service your airport!
My 5 hour flight is now going to be at least a 9 if not a 10 hour flight.
Get your act together and stop this amature hour.

Nice repaved runway and new lighting. Fuel, tie downs, plug ins, heated hangar available. Food and accommodation's are about 8 km away.

Restaurant and grocery store within a very short walk from the airport. Paved apron with tie downs. Nice place to stop over.

Very nice pilot lounge. Best fuel prices in the area. Lighted runway with AWOS. Home of the restored Canso. Nice airport to visit but a little too far to walk to town. About 4km.
Closed
I drove past there and it looks completely closed, the hangars are still there but the airstrip is fully covered in snow.
Building of the runway.
I dont have a lot of information however just found out my grandfather ran the heavy duty cat to build the strip at war time. Is there any signs of the airstrip left. I would like to bring my teen to it for family history maybe in 2018.
First cross country flight
Landed on it on my first leg of solo cross country. Quite an experience.
A very nice terminal with a museum.
Friendly flying school
Where i had my first solo.
The home for Canadian Flyers School where I recieved my training. People are amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly and supportive.
5 more years
I am happy to hear that YKZ is staying for another 5 more years. I hope it will stay more. It is a shame to see it gone.
