Friendly, great fuel price and a courtesy car!

Great airport to stop at, the super friendly fuel system owner gave me a beverage and helped me fuel my airplane; the courtesy car was a great thing to have use of too.

As of the fall of 2015. We lost the owner, Gord Farrow. The field is unknown at this time having to do with maintenance. .

re: IPhone app

OurAirports does not produce any iPhone or Android apps β€” perhaps you were looking at an app that uses the open data that we publish.

IPhone app

I downloaded your approach CA iPhone app and it doesn't work

Career Contact

Hello, is there someone I can contact regarding a possible career opportunity within the airfield?

Picture of

CYPQ PIREP

Restaurant onsite is very good. More than decent coffee, a yummy home-made soup, good sandwiches.

DO NOT BUY GAS HERE - it was $1.77+HST ($2.02) from teh ESSO truck. In contrast, the member price at Rockcliffe is $1.65 (and CYRP and CYSH are similar in price to CYRO).

Closed

Seems closed now though there are still some (shells of?) planes by the parking lot.

Great aerodrome 1800 ft Not for every airplane

New runway

Just expanded. Now has a 7000x100 runway with full instrument approach capabilities. Brand new FBO operated by Daniel Cleary.

Restaurant

For a very low traffic airport, the restaurant is amazing

Picture of

Kimsquit airstrip

Was built back in the coastal logging camp days, has been unserviceable off and on due to logs and rocks placed on it to deter users apparently. More of a super cub strip now.

There is an airstrip just n.e of the same bay by the dean riverside which is usable

Leismer aerodrome service

Elite, fast and efficient service, free coffee and a pinball machine in the waiting room A++

Nice and big

I went there the other night, it was very quite at about 19:30 local time. The MF frequency was unmanned but just used it as an uncontrolled airport. Very easy to see at night, lights are sufficient. Keep in mind that runway 05 has a displaced threshold, it is lighted very well to show you it is displaced.

Great Airport

Easy to use and easy access to downtown Montreal

Pascan was a very reasonably priced FBO

Helpful and cooperative !!

Picture of rstan

Expensive AOE

Montreal area airports are a real rip off for the Ramp fees for a brief stop to satisfy Canadian customs

Beautiful calm lake in paradise, by a golf course, on an per

We landed our PC12, parked in front of the picturesque log cabin we rented through VRBO.COM, dropped our bags and headed to the golf course next door for a great lunch and 9 holes. The concierge of our stay had a fully equipped ski boat parked at our reserved boat slip as promised. We experienced the most incredible week of water skiing, golfing and adventures our family has ever had. We must try to replicate that amazing experience again.

Taxi

During my visit (1–2 October 2015), it was $20 (US $15) for a taxi into downtown Fredericton.

Air Base at Dog Creek

My father was stationed at Dog Creek upon his return from WWII as an evader, prisoner and escapee. After he married my Mom, he had to hide her on the base as no women were allowed! He tells me the men saved their beer rations, pooled them together and drank them after VE Parade in Williams Lake. He was there from late 1944 to about the fall of 1945, when he was discharged from the Air Force.

My husband and I were in the Dog Creek area today, September 1, 2105, and spoke with a First Nation local, who directed us out of town to the site, but we could find no evidence of the airport.

Invermere Airport

Watch out for the crazy guy in hanger 1. Pulled up to FBO for fuel and he comes out screaming violently at us that we blew dust around his hanger. Thought he was going to hit us or our aircraft. Seems he thinks this is his private airport and although right beside the fuel that he should scream at anyone that pulls up. Suggestion: public airport beside fuel, close your door when someone pulls up or move away from fuel.

No Avgas at Iqaluit currently

They were all out as of mid-July 2015, none expected until August.

Avgas availability at Kujjuaq

Call first to see if they are not out, sold by the complete drum only, you must bring your own pump.

Lunch Option

You can fly in and take a cab (or bike) to the Winery. It has a deli/counter which sells raw meats which you can then cook yourself on a BBQ (free to use) in the pavilion with picnic tables etc. Great idea!

Picture of

Flyboys closed

We flew in yesterday hoping for some food but found out that the Flyboys grille has been closed for a couple years. The runway is gravel but very smooth.

Picture of

New Frequency

The Pacific Radio RCO is 125.85 and the LWOS is 129.175

Picture of

Not GA friendly

No one is allowed to land here. What a joke. Way to let GA grow in Canada ya idiot.

Picture of

great place to stop

I stopped at Valemount in my RV9 both on the way from Vancouver to Edmonton and on the reverse. Excellent clear approaches for 14 and 32. There is a small terminal building where you can get a biobreak and 100LL is available self serve. Bring your credit card for the fuel.

History

I lived and went to school in Athabasca back in the early 60s. There used to be a small grass airstrip with a few hangers and some small high wing aircraft. Piper Cub, Fleet 80 or similar. At that age l just wanted to fly. As a retired B737 Jurassic and Classic pilot l took the opportunity to see how Athabasca has changed. What can I say......remarkable and beautiful.

Fuel availabilty

I will be flying into maple creek airport on Friday in the afternoon. is there avgas available or how do I get some?

This airport is no more.

It's not pinin'! it's passed on! This airport is no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! It's a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed it to the perch it'd be pushing up the daisies! It's metabolic processes are now 'istory! It's off the twig! It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-AIRPORT!!'

is there any service providing float plane charters out of N

If anyone knows of anyone, please have them contact me - Matt Arnold - mharnold1@outlook.com or mobile 201 774 4746 thx!!!!

Learning to Fly at CSE4

I just started my PPL at CSE4 and the staff is super friendly and welcoming! The food is great and the service is super professional! I was shocked to hear english when I came through the doors! Nothing but positive comments to say about this friendly airport! Beautiful scenery around the airfield and tons of pilots to talk too!

Picture of

Thought I would try it....

I should have listened. Waste of time! Rude worker or owner! I don't know which. Guess they are trying to sell it so don't care anymore. Who would buy it in its current shape???? Niagara on the Lake is THE place to go and just a few minutes away as the plane flies!!!!

Picture of

Facilities

The mine shut down in 1985 and nothing remains at the airport.

Great little airport - Noone home

Arrived on Friday evening at ~6pm from Barrie. No one was home to answer unicom. Landed and the terminal was empty, they close at 5pm but leave the front open for transient pilots to use the washrooms, get coffee, or borrow a bike if need be. Beware that means there is no one for the fuel pumps and it is $100 to call out (on top of fuel, not waved for min purchase) so if you're arriving after 5 plan accordingly for fuel.

Take off over lake Erie was fun! Great airport, will be back!

Picture of

Petawawa NDB (YWA)

I just wanted to state that I've also bin able to hear YWA even in the warmer months, although not as often and not as strong as in the Winter. Additionally, in the warmer months there is usually lightening strike noise to contend with. I monitor 516 kHz several times each night for YWA and about one every two weeks or so in the warmer months I cam hear it. More frequently I hear NAVTEX in 518 coming through all year round. I monitor YWA for year round MF propagation study. 73, George N2CG

Picture of

Agreed - Better places to land

Much better to go to NOTL. Better shape, more to do in local area. I won't land here again.

Picture of

YWA NDB

I heard the NDB this morning 6/6/15 at 0818z on 520KHz from St. Johns, Michigan (grid locator EN73) 520 is as low as I can get my cheapie grundig receiver to go. -Todd KB8OYR
