Took the C172 up here and did a couple low passes. Looks like this strip sees little, to no use at all. There are what look like small poplars growing on either side of the landing area, leaving just a small, narrow path to land on(unless you want to mow down some shrubs with your prop). The grass didn't look too tall. Didn't actually touch down so I'm unsure of the surface condition, but didn't look to be too bad other than all of the shrubs.

After the great fire
I recently flew in and the damage done was so hard to see, almost everything was lost. Some buildings remain and some houses.
Been there many times by foot .
The green X is on the wrong side of the river . If you look straight north of it you will see it .
The biggest moose ever shot in Alberta was shot on this air strip .
Airport might move
Heard they want to move the airport about 50 ft northward of the road to make room for more development but thatβs only what I heard, might not happen but who knows

Came here 12 days before the fire broke out
Never thought it would be my last
Not sure if they plan on rebuilding the town, it had 122 building with a population of 2,400 ( estimated ) and all was lost, all animals still in Fox were killed
Fire damage
Facilities damaged in wildfires during spring 2023.

Itβs a nice dirt airport, itβs been busy with the wildfires lately with planes and helicopters landing

BCATP relief field
From @FlyingTom in a problem report:
This triangular field was RCAF Detachment Granum (for the nearby town) and was the #1 relief field for No. 7 Service Flying Training School at Fort Macleod.

Well hello fellow Ham Radio operator!!
I am just learning to fly and checking out this website to learn all the airports and airfields in the south of Alberta.
Last time I was in to Drumheller was to meet aviation friends, but we drove in. Loved the airport and the staff hanging around , had a lovely lunch...rats can't remember the place in town, then went through The Royal Tyrell Museum....very interesting indeed!! Keep the Shiny Side Up!!! Caroline

What a great old airport!!! She was built in the 1940's as a British Commonwealth Air Training Plan airport for the boys to learn how to fly those big bombers!! It is sad to see most of those old gals in Alberta have disappeared........they must have been something to see all across Canada!!! Too bad that most of them have not been maintained!! CEN4 - High River has been plowed under, but Google earth still shows her triangle!!! Want to do some history search?? Go slowly over each Province and look for that tell tale triangle!!! Safe flying out there!!!! Caroline
Nice facility
Went to the annual BBQ lunch Aug. 27, 2021. Great terminal and runway. Very nice local folks. Great to have the self serve fuel as well.

Visited May 31, 2021. Courtesy car available, but we didnβt use it. Terminal entry door for pilots is on parking lot side of building.

Terminal interior is being renovated. Looks like a few year job. Runway is very good.
Needs TLC
The terminal building really needs some cleaning and TLC. Runway is in good shape.
Great Facility
Visited April 2021. Friendly "manager", helped with self serve fuel. Courtesy vehicle available. Great dinosaur museum in town.

Turf Conditions Were Great
Firm grass, no issues in a cherokee six. Quite the approach into the westerly direction. Amazing views
Watch out for the construction site on the approach end of 1
Lots of digging and mounds of dirt
Still Well Maintained
Turf was solid with a few embedded rocks here and there.. There is J-A1 fuel on site, probably for the helicopters. No probs in a Cherokee Six

Still listed as open
The Canada Flight Supplement up to 10 September 2020 still lists this airport as open, with a note warning that "Rwy 10/28 and 16/34 sfcs deteriorating." From various comments, it doesn't sound practical to use, but someone is still keeping it on the books.
Great Facility
Well maintained grass strip. Well worth a visit.

Small privately owned airport. The two grass strips is well maintained and are equipped with high intensity runway edge lighting

Update 5/8/2020 airfield appears to be in despair. There is no windsock at the airfield just a bare pole the airport has fences surrounded it with no-trespassing signs on them. All the structures located at the airfield or in close-proximity to it are in complete and utter despair
Maintained
Use at your own risk. Grass is mowed.
2019 - rapidly becoming unlandable
Surface is in good shape, trees are colonizing in from the edges. High wing planes may be ok for a while, low wing gliders are marginal.
Long gone
What remains of strip has been dug up for gravel pit.
Long gone
Not even possible to identify where the strip was. The coal mine likely went through here years ago.
Totally unlandable
Strip is long gone in the trees
Well maintained as of 2019
Kept mowed by local flying club.
Much worse than it looks by satellite
Severely overgrown; anywhere that isn't pavement is growing tall trees.
Well maintained
Kept up by the Red Deer Flying Club.
Thumbs up
Really great airport, the expansions and renovations make it sleek and easy to get around.

Nice little airport

β @Bsummers627 at Boyle Airport, Canada
Very cool little grass strip, dropped in here one day with the C172. It's surrounded on all sides by trees so it makes for a pretty fun approach. The surface was fairly smooth and is fairly well maintained by the town of Boyle, definitely recommend stopping by.
