I believe that to start commercial flights, even smaller regional ones, the runway should be a little longer (20-30%) as a safety margin. Katihar Airport must be enlarged and developed as Commercial Airport.
The Railway Station in the city of Katihar handles more passengers daily than most of the tier 2 cities in India. Hence , it is the responsibility of the Aviation Minister to look into the matter and consider Katihar atleast under UDAN scheme.
There is a chance of Darbhanga airport revival in the second round of UDAN Scheme. There is a good chance of Darbhanga-Delhi, Darbhanga-Bangalore flight. We will come to know on 20th Dec, when final result will be announced.

Don't know why the Indian air force always have to compensate its security for the welfare of nation's civilians.
