AVGAS available from Summit Fuel on Apron 2. Currently $2.63/L. Park in a space, walk inside to the flight schoolβs dispatch desk and speak to a dispatcher about receiving fuel. Theyβll send the truck.
After the great fire
I recently flew in and the damage done was so hard to see, almost everything was lost. Some buildings remain and some houses.
NEW GRASS LANDING STRIP
In early November 2023, a north-south landing strip with markers on both sides, was observed south of Herb's Plaza, along Tannery Road.
Closed effective Nov 30, 2023
This airport will finally be closing at the end of November. See AIC 16/23 for more information.
Been there many times by foot .
The green X is on the wrong side of the river . If you look straight north of it you will see it .
The biggest moose ever shot in Alberta was shot on this air strip .

Great canteen.
re: DO NOT LAND HERE
if the private owner behaves badly towards the guests and is jealous of the camp, it means that he is hiding some problem or that the airfield is not in order or that he engages in illicit acts such as drug dealing, in any case the private camp is not it is private but it is also an emergency camp and therefore the owner who behaves badly must absolutely be reported to the forces of order or to the police.
(no subject)
according to European rules, whoever makes airstrips or makeshift camps available does so both for emergencies and for tourism, yes, they are private, but if one has built them, he also makes them available for emergencies and tourism, therefore he is obliged to leave a contact and a telephone number and he is also obliged to enroll in the aviation register to register and also obliged to keep the runway built according to the law and in the event of obstacles he must report the obstacles or the various problems that the runway has slopes, etc., etc. this site did not allow me to add the telephone number of the owner of the airfield and wrong because the information must be published in Italy there is AVIOPORTOLANO which is a book where all the minor airports are published in accordance with the law with their respective numbers telephones.
re: DO NOT LAND HERE
if you talk to me about private runway I agree with you....but on this site the classifications of aviation facilities are not very clear.....I am an Italian and in my language the classification is this "AEREOPORTI, BASI AEREE, AVIOSUPERFICI, CAMPO DI VOLO,IDROSCALI" I in English I can't translate "CAMPI DI VOLO" if I use the translator it writes airfield but an airfield(campo di volo) and a grass runway where only ultralight aircraft can land while an airfield (AVIOSUPERFICIE) is a facility where both general aviation and ultralight aircraft can land.
re: DO NOT LAND HERE
It's generally never a good idea to land on any private airstrip without advance notice or permission except in cases of dire emergency. All headings and information here should be considered to be for informational purposes only, and contact information for owners of private airstrips may not even be publicly available depending on jurisdiction.
Batman
i was told this is where Batman lives...??
Airport might move
Heard they want to move the airport about 50 ft northward of the road to make room for more development but thatβs only what I heard, might not happen but who knows
sorry
I AM very sorry of confusing that airstrip with CYSH, my brain was stupid at that time.

Came here 12 days before the fire broke out
Never thought it would be my last
Not sure if they plan on rebuilding the town, it had 122 building with a population of 2,400 ( estimated ) and all was lost, all animals still in Fox were killed
Do not confuse with Smiths Falls Airport (CYSH)
The main airport for Smiths Falls is CYSH, about 8 nm to the northeast. This is a private grass strip that is visible in the satellite imagery and included on OpenStreetMap (no other information available).
Fire damage
Facilities damaged in wildfires during spring 2023.
WHOOPS
Sorry, but I messed up.
Missing from website.
I had to add this in due to the fact itβs not on le website, also for some reason the ICAO and IATA codes were not working, so I had to do some random words. (ICAO : CYSR / IATA : YSR)
re: (no subject)
Marker has been moved.

Itβs a nice dirt airport, itβs been busy with the wildfires lately with planes and helicopters landing
Home of the 1944 North American P-51 D Mustang!
Had the privilege to see this plane in action! Currently restoring another 2, can't wait to see them in action too!
Airport closing
De Havilland Canada ceased operations at the airport in June 2022, but as of the 3 November 2022 Canada Flight Supplement, it's still listed as open (with prior permission required). There is a plan to develop it into a "15-minute community". https://www.thecooldown.com/green-business/downsview-toronto-airport-15-minute-city/
1970 is more than 22 years before 2018.
Looks like this airport did exist ... 40 to 50 years ago.
Inspiration for the musical Come from Away
A former transatlantic crossroads before the jet era, Gander was one of the airports that housed stranded travelers when American airspace was closed due to the events of September 11, 2001; Gander International received 7000 passengers from thirty-eight planes. The incredible hospitality of the Newfoundlanders inspired the musical Come from Away, which ran on Broadway from 2017 to 2022, and continues to spark interest from innumerable "Come-from-Aways" in the people and culture of the island.
Runway is a bit deteriorated
Beware of lots of cracks and weeds on the runway when landing here.
They have complimentary bicycles here as well but were not usable due being in disrepair. Hopefully they will fix them because I want to go back!
Some things to keep in mind flying to Orillia Ramara airport
1. The beginning of rwy 30 slopes upwards but this isn't listed in the CFS.
2. Lots of birds grazing on the grass.
3. The ARCAL is apparently private and I couldn't activate them when I flew overhead the field one night recently, so keep this in mind if staying here till dark.
4. The taxiway just off the runway is very narrow, so be sure to listen to any traffic on the ground as two planes can't squeeze past each other on the narrow section
5. Airport restaurant is tasty and has live music as well, (a bit expensive though) if fly-and-dining is your cup of tea. A bit strange of me to mention, but the pictures in the male washroom are very funny!
re: Great airport for night fliers
Reply to @cessna1504lyfe: Also another thing to add, an AWOS is available here on 122.55.
Not sure why it's not listed in the CFS.
Great airport for night fliers
Self serve fuel + comfortable and neat 24/7 lounge has made this airport a memorable one for me. Be sure to leave money in the box in the kitchen if you take any water bottles or snacks.
re: loved the courtesy car
Reply to @cessna1504lyfe: Oh and watch out for deer when driving, they're everywhere on the island.
loved the courtesy car
Nothing makes a trip to such a peaceful and picturesque airport better than a courtesy car!
Was able to see much more than I planned on. It's a minivan, perfect for small groups flying in, just contribute 20$ for the upkeep and make sure you bring it back at the same fuel level and it's yours for the day. Just call them in advance and reserve it to be sure of having it on the day you fly there.

Amazing Airport loved the staff
re: The Phoenix from the ashes
How much did they pay you for this? LOL! This airpark is anything but....
Never again......
Almost hit a herd of deer. Some basic security fencing around this field should be mandated. If that wasn't enough a farmer was plowing an adjacent field and I had to avoid a flock of seagulls (not the band lol). I've landed here before years ago, it was bad then. I will not return for the sake of my life. Nothing there or in the area for me. Plus those cross winds from the SW suck big time.
Restaurant is CLOSED Permanently
Previous restaurant area is now a pilot / visitor lounge with coffee and soft drinks to purchase.
Open M to F 0900 to 1600. Irregular on weekends.
Grass Runway. CLOSED
17/35 ts closed permanently.
13/31 and 08/26 are open
Formerly an airport
According to Wikipedia, the runways were closed in 2004, and only a helipad remains.
The graveyard of the Atlantic
Repurposed!
Hastings Field is no longer an active airstrip ... for fixed wing craft. There's a pretty shiny looking heliport there now though!
Former DEW Line station
This was a Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line station until 1963. The runway outline is still visible.
Ice runway
This airport looks like it's a seaplane base, but it's actually a seasonal ice runway.
Great new service on the southernmost point in Canada!
Contact admin@peleeislandadventures.com or visit www.peleeislandadventures.com in advance to reserve a golf cart for the day and they will pick you up for free. Great way to spend a day on a beautiful island. Tour Canada's first commercial winery, www.vinvilla.com or enjoy awesome food and great lakefront views at the historical Stone House 1891 craft bar and kitchen.
