Built by my grandfather
My grandfather was part of the battalion that built this strip as well as others in the area during WWII. I went out there by boat about 10 years ago from Biak Island, some bold pilots say you can still land there but it is not maintained in any way so the chances of hitting something are high. Beautiful island, deserted except for some fishermen who beach their boats during the day or camp overnight and lots of bats..

Just want to share my experience sa io..first time traveller kami ng sister ko papuntang sg last april 09. Hinanapan lang ako ng company id ng io same sa sister ko..tinanong nya lang ako if first time to travel, if im working then san daw address ng company ko then ask for my company id tatak na after..just be confident on how you answer their questions and dont be too polite..mas okay na polite but in a professional way..kasi feeling ko if your too polite sa kanila dun ka nila mas tinatakot..just saying :)

The last time I landed here was about 5 years ago and thought despite the negative reviews I would drop in recently. The recent reviews were accurate. Not certain who would buy it, but I won't be returning. St. Catharines airport is the best in the area with lots to do and good facilities! I wonder what happened on that plane crash that occurred there last year. Hushed up!

good day po.ask ko lang po kung hinohold po ang passport dyan sa immigration kapag nag cross country for verification daw po ng visa.flight po ng dubai-egypt-dubai.then after 2days dubai-mla for 1wk vacation naman po.hindi po binibigay ang passport.binigay lang po nung pabalik na ulit ng dubai.

Excellent airport!
This is a great regional airport. Great views. Wide open airfield with great visibility. On field VOR and TWR. FBO (Colgan Air Services [http://colgan-air.com/]) is great to work with and has very good instructors with ground and flight school.

Great Cafe and a cheap date for kids
Great place to feed kids and you can legally stand on the footpath at the threshold of runway 06 which is fabulous fun especially if that's the runway in use.

Sir today I will go to pick up my friend from Chennai airport I will teak a tikit from entry point that time sharp 10:01 am and I will toch at exit point at 10.07 am then the toll collectore askmi for 150rs I am shoked and I will tell him y I will pay then he will asking me your time is upto 10 min I will argue with him he Will call to supervisor and then that supervisor is rudely talking with me and telling me any condition u won't to pay othe r wise teak back side your vehicle he will not give any answers to me so i thik he is not giving my any answers so last I will decide I will pay but this is first time so I will leave it but I will request to airport authority plz teak action on this agency who will cheat with people
Beautiful Scenery
Landed here the other day, but took off fairly quickly. I wish I could have gotten out because it looks beautiful! Runway was clear and big, there was quite a few deer around the runway, we noticed once we landed. Not busy, at least when I had arrived!

It is a nice step but requir to start flight direct to mumbai,delhi,benglore such metro cities.Other wise there is no meaning of these airports.its requir again 5hr to travel frm bhubaneswar to sambalpur by train or wait for flight at bbsr.also it will be costly.why should normal people travel by flight to sambalpur.It will only success for us if we'll get direct flight to delhi, mimbai,beglore etc.No requir to travel bbsr.bt requir to travel distanse to sve time.So start it as soon as possible.Thank you.

My family lived there from early 1950 until I was old enough to go to school. My father was a mechanic . It was a very interesting place. I remember when the garage burned down and the camp parties that were held in the common rooms. It was at the end of a very muddy road well into the 1980's It was shut down in the early 1970's. When we travelled in and out you had to check in on the open wire telephone system. When we lived there, there were only a couple of homes and a couple of rough dwellings and the majority of the staff were single men.

Flying in with Garuda from Makassar a number of years back not a cloud in sight, easy approach. Great airport, easy to get around (7 gates) and taxis to town are cheap.
