CAB5 Bronson Creek.

I have been a flight sim enthusiast form may years. My favorite session is to fly from PAWG to CAB5. CAB5 is on my bucket list to see in real life.

Friendly airport - Great owner!

We, Harry(Zodiac 600) and a Roy(Challenger II), landed at this field as a diversion due to weather and picked up by a friendly pilot (Rick) who lives in town and offered us a place to spend night. Came back later part of the day to tiedown the planes and were extreamly happy/pleased to see that the owner had already anchored and tied them for us :). Neat place to see the glider activity and a plane that they use to tow glider up.

This is a total shame

I fly my plane from Georgia, USA to Nova Scotia on a regular basis, and now I learn that the only general aviation airport in the Annapolis Valley is being closed. There are only a handful of general aviation airports across the entire Nova Scotia, and the very best one is being closed for 'possible' expansion of a business???? What kind of logic is that? Where am I supposed to land when visiting Kentville? Is the airbase at Greenwood open to general aviation?

Really nice

A very nice airport, was there early March. There was no traffic, and someone answered my Unicom call for traffic and airport advisory! Runway 17/35 is very narrow and Threshold is in a bit of awkward position, but very nicely maintained! I would recommend this airport to anyone!

Great Airport - Very active

Visited twice and saw lots of activity happening. Airport manager is very friendly and helpful. Its very scenic to go over the big river just to the west of the airport on climb out or on approach.

Picture of Pilotharry

Very Nice fascility

Great airport to have a stop over or a fuel stop. Nice retaurant on site and gas stations are just a walking distance. Local community uses French only on radio....Be prepared or be motivated to go nordo. :)

Picture of Pilotharry

Nice fascility - Unfriendly community

I did a fuel stop over from my flight to Baldwin from Qubec city here in summer 2013. Found the guy on unicom and in terminal very friendly but the pilot there renting a 172 there with his family was very dry and didnt even bother providing me any information when I requested. 'This is a club building' and I was not allwed to relax there for a bit. Ended up relaxing on grass outside the terminal listening to the radio inside.

In short, a great airport for stop over but be prepared to ignore some of the roughest or dry aviation people in the club side of the airport that I have ever come accross.

Ultralighter's Heaven

This is a small airport with lots of lively aviation spirit in it. Lots of challengers becuse of a challenger builder, inspector and a instructor on site. Also a home base for the Advanced ultralight SONEX aircraft. This is one airport where you will find minimum 'dead' aircrafts sitting collecting sun or dust. Very helpful community and the parachute school loves pilots who talk to them on radio. A easy airport to fly in, provided you talk to unicom and clear your intentions.

Picture of Pilotharry

Rough Surface - Nice Airport

To make the matters worse, there is a drain hole in the middle of the runway about 1/3 from the east. Its marked by a flag on the north side edge of the runway. So, If you are landing with a taildragger, try to stick close to the southern edge. Used to be a very nice flying community there but things are looking to go downside. I hope that it will re-emerge into life.

Must visit ariport

Great fascilities, very friendly staff, active unicom and resonable priced restaurant for awesome breakfast. i am frequent visitor there and many times with ultralights. Makes for a great fuel stop over for longer cross countires. If the winds are more from south, expect some weird turbulence on short final for 13 due to brush line or trees. I prefer landing long in that situation. HAPPY FLYING!

Picture of Pilotharry

Great Airport - A good alternate if the winds are high.

This is a great airoport to visit and fuel prices are resonable for a fuel stop. In line with others, the restaurant is more of a fancy restaurant user primarily by road traffic rather then pilots ...specially the economical ones like me. A fish n; chips or bugers to menu would make a good addition for having fliers drop in.

Short Sighted Municipality - Closing this airport in 2015

The excellent airport is slated for closure 30 September 2015. The municipal council has decided without consultation with the public to close the airport under pressure of the Provincial Government to sell the land to a nearby industry for 'possible' expansion. The province would not provide any money for the move and the local municipal council forced the facilities to consider consolidation at the nearby Greenwood Airforce Base. During the long draw-out process of deciding to close the airport, the uncertainty of the future, closed the flight training school and one repair facility. The future of aviation in the Annapolis Valley is in doubt and an excellent airport will have been destroyed

Our flight to Grosse le

Our two father-and-son pilots from Montmagny Airport were excellent - just felt like driving in a car. I just knew they could do this trip blindfolded! Not only did we get 'the tour' but they also located several flocks of Snow Geese for me. Great take-off and soft landing. Thanks to both of you.

Military Aerodrome

A point that I haven't seen on the page for Petawawa is the fact that this is a Military Aerodrome inside a restricted area, and as such, it is not open to civilian traffic. Services are available at Pembroke, but not here. As well, there is a large amount of Military helicopter traffic in the area. Traffic information is available through Petawawa Advisory.

Great GA friendly airport

Super nice facilities. Terminal building is well kept with a history of the area in pictures and other nice posters and paintings.

The restaurant/cafe is nice with a very good weekend breakfast buffet.

The staff is there to help and want to make sure you remember being there.

Overall a very nice place to visit.

I visited Sept. 16, 2014 for the first time. Nice terminal building with soft drinks and cookies available. Congratulations to Justine on her first solo.

Absolutely perfect

I flew in with my PA34 (Piper Seneca) from Birmingham Alabama via Toronto buttonville (CYKZ) along with 4 others on board, we stopped in to see family. And friends in the area. The runways are fantastic and very well taken care of, I've landed on paved runways that were not as good as this place. The staff and airport manager were excellent, extremely friendly and very helpful. Fuel was cheaper than anywhere else I could find in the region. I would highly recommend this little place, it's in a wonderful area and it is in perfect condition to land anything from a home build, or a light twin right up to a Kingair.. This place has no issues whatsoever.

Reminder

Picton is a PPR airport. There are numerous airport/runway closures so always check Notams and call for permission.

Old & New

Visited with my Dad (Bill Lawson) when about 9 yrs old. He was "District inspector, Western Airways". Went there again recently when my kids gave me a hangliding flight for Birthday present ... Fantastic!! Short flight time though ... got to do it again.

My 3-yr-old Grandson would say for couple months after: "CandaGrampa on kite in sky!"
