History
During World War II, this was RAF Westhampnett. Two fighter squadrons (145 and 602) were based here during the Battle of Britain. Later in the war, the USAAF also used the field. It became a civilian airfield after the war.
Since the late 1940s, a motor racing track, the "Goodwin Circuit", has run around the airport perimeter.

Are there flights to and from Manila - Bagabag, NV? What kind, sizes of planes? We plan to go to Dupax del Sur on our next visit to P.I. Thanks.

Henrys Fish Restaurant
No Fuel, Just the world famous Henrys Fish Restaurant. Great place to stop for a meal. Great food served in a family style and great staff in a beautiful setting. The place in known for the fish! Plus you never know what world famous celebrity you might see while you are there.

same think happened to us, they showed the dogs pictures, saying that he couldn't keep them because they were doing some volunteering work, then he called saying that he was at the delivering agency waiting for me to send the $340 for the 2 dogs, then next morning he send us some made up email that came through my spam email saying that i had to pay 580 for the pet insurance, and the money was going to be refundable up to 96%

i wish i came across this site earlier we have just been scammed for shipping fees and travel insurance that we had payed yesterday beware of all animals poated on ADOOS.COM with a yahoo email IF ONLY I COULD GET MY HANDS ON THEM the emails i recieved were from a MARGUES84@YAHOO.COM and someone pretending to be from the iata about travel insurance

The main apron at CYOW has been uncontrolled as long as I've been flying, because tower can't see well enough to guarantee that you'll be clear of planes pushing back, baggage trains, etc. A typical clearance is back to the north field from the Esso or Shell is "taxi bravo, apron at your discretion, alfa, tango, hold short runway 22" — the "at your discretion" is controller-ese for "you're on your own taxiing around the parked Airbusses, bubba". I think CYYZ has a dedicated apron controller.

New Policies at YKZ
These are a little out of date, but thought I would mention it anyways.
1. Taxiing. The main apron (near the terminal) is uncontrolled. It is suggested that you let the ground controller know where you are when calling up, and be specific. Ie, "on the main apron holding short of foxtrot" for example.
2. When you need to talk to London FIC, do so using the RCO and *not* 126.7.

Hansen Airfield
I was into Hansen Airfield on Cortes Island on August 03, 2009. What a great place to fly into. The runway is in fine shape and there's plenty of room for parking. Jim Hansen supplies tie downs and you won't find a friendly airport anywhere. If you're looking for a new place to fly try Hansen Airfield. It's in the Canada Flight Supplement and is an easy flight from the lower mainland of BC.

Everybody should know that the FBO at CXY has been replaced. CXY Aviation is the new FBO. UFS-Aero is gone and thankfully so. NOW THERE ARE NO RAMP FEES, NONE. THERE IS STILL A LANDING FEE WHICH IS WAIVED FOR FUEL PURCHASES OR ANY OTHER SERVICES DONE BY ANY OF THE BUSINESSES ON THE FIELD. There are new hangers built and available. There are other maintanence shops. "Aircraft Maintanence Services" and "Wings and Things" to mention two. The new FBO is developing a new flight school and other facilities. Fuel is once again competitively priced. The Tower personal are great and very helpful. Give KCXY a try and I believe that you will not be dissatisfied.

Tie Downs
There is a cable stapled to the apron running length-wise roughly centred which is presumably for tying air planes down. There are also some concrete blocks with eyelets that can be dragged to tie down the tail.
Fly-to BBQ
About 15 minute walk from the airport, across fields, this park has picknick tables and fixed BBQs. There is a beach, change rooms and washroom facilities, but when I was there the washrooms were closed, and the beach was the sole preserve of Canada Geese and seagulls. We were still able to have a nice afternoon BBQ though.

Leavesden, which hosted an important military Rolls-Royce factory during World War II, was taken over as a film lot in the 1990s:
A charming liitle airport
A very charming little airport with a friendly restaurant where in summer you can have lunch and dinner. No landing fee! Do land on the grass strip right next to the hard-surfaced runway with potholes which hasn't been used since World War II.
A taxi takes you to close-by St Valery for EU 10,00. Well worth a visit!

Thank yous all so much, I was just on the net looking for the airport that the pupps would be departing from, and I came upon your comments.
Mrs Kelly Miller, has the pupps at the airport ready to leave, and wants a 90.00€ deposit ASAP for the pupps to leave.
I always had a gut feeling that this is a scam but my husband never thinks people are able to pull something like this off.
Mrs. Miller has a dog with her name...interesting.

Runway 32
The CFS says runway 32 is treated gravel which makes it sound like runway 26 would be a better choice despite a crosswind. However, as of July 2009 when I stopped for fuel, I found runway 32 to be in great condition with no loose gravel whatsoever. And if you are able to do a good short field landing, the first 400 feet of runway 32 is asphalt.

OMG!!! The same thing happened to me I saw an ad for a teacup yorkie online and contacted the owner via email about purchasing it. I was under the impression that she was located in the state of North Carolina but she wasn't. She gave me this long drawn out story of how her daughter just died from a brain tumor and she was trying to sell the dog because her daughter was the main caregiver of the dog. I fell for it and I sent a $110.00 money gram and not even two days later I received an email from the Douala airport claiming that the dogs insurance was expired and I would have to send an extra $288.00 to cover the dogs insurance but they said that the money was refundable once the dog arrived in the states. I emailed the owner and she said that she was broke and didn't have the money she said she could only cover $100.00 of it. I told her that I refused to send any more money down there. She gave me this sobb story about how she has fallen on hard times which to me was BS becuase I'm like hell were in a recession everybody is having hard times and she knew the dog's insurance had expired but she still sent it to the airport. so I asked her well why would knowingly send your dog to the airport knowing that her insurance was expired. I knew then that this had to be a scam. So in the end I'm out of $110.00 but I know that I will not purchase anymore anything from overseas especially coming from Douala Airport.
