Our experience was very good at this newish airport... People were helpful to point us to the right direction to T1 via the sky train. Free wifi as well as nice duty free & food outlets. Truevtestbis the clean & well maintained toilets!

Dhanbad is so busy and important place of our country.It is Known as COAL CITY OF INDIA.But yet now it there is not any airport.It shows the dullness of govt. A lot of people comes to Dhanbad every day from different parts of India and having central govt offices like DGMS, Instution like ISM ,BCCL ,CMRS & CFRI so dhanbad need an airport..I Request to govt that please take some steps to make domestic airport at dhanbad.For This all the people of dhanbad,and other persons beside of dhanbad will happy.

airport is settled in LTP1 (Prohibited Area) by a businessman. Aircrafts have to get permit from Ministry of Transportation before planning a flight.

I may be the only one why is it being named Ghandar Airport after a Budhist Kingdom, does not even sound like the airport is in Pakistan. Fatima Jinnah would have been more appropriate.

custom officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport
i have visited in january 2011, while i was arrived at airport in the morning everything was ok but when i checking out one of the custom officer called me and ask me what i have although i was passed from green zone and i was having nothing but that officer was talking with me very rudely as i am his servant and i m terrorist. he had seen all my luggage and everything was clearly checked and he has taken my perfume which i had purchased from shanghai in 210 USD. that experience is very bad from mumbai airport custom officers and every one arriving at this airport are telling the same thing.......very bad

Not only in Diosdado Macapagal Airport but also NAIA Terminals in Manila. Halos lahat yata ng officers ng immigration naghi hintay na lang ng mabi biktimang passengers mostly mga first timers. First hand experience, yung makakapal ang mukha diretsahang hihingi talaga ng pera sa yo bago ka i allow maka pasok. MArami ding akong kakilalang nabiktima nitong mga magnanakaw nato.

I agree with you because in 2007 I faced same problem at the SVP Airport. The custom officer asked me to pay $500.00 because of I carried my own gold necklace and bangle to attend my sister's wedding and he was searching and taking out each and every small fake ornaments that I carried along. I told him that it's my ornaments and I am not going to pay a single money and asked him to show me the law. I didn't pay and he let me go. It is totally unfair and shame that we have to face this kind of inconvenience. I am writing now to focus this kind of matter happen at SVP Airport.

SVP International Airport Employees ask for Bribes
My mom arrived at the SVP Airport on Air India Flight AI 0144 from Newark, NJ, USA and the customs officer asked her for USD 500.00, since she hasn't been to India in 20 years! The man proceeded to tell her that if she didn't pay it was going to take 2 to 3 hours to process her, and that she will have to talk to his supervisor and the supervisor was going to ask for a lot more than USD 500.00.
My mom told the man that she didn't have any money, and that she is going to wait, but he went outside the airport to find who was picking her up and told them that he will not let her go until he was paid USD 500.00.
This employee held my mom hostage, until he got his money. I could not believe what my mom was telling me.
My cousin negotiated with the man and told him all they could pay was USD 100.00, so that they would let her go and the man agreed.
My mom was scared, violated, embarrassed, and no one should be treated this way!

i have the same problem with two of the immigration officer in clark pampanga last year november 23. they refuse me to fly to bankok.. they were asking lots and lots of things.. id's and ect... poea thing coz i am an ofw in UAE.... which i dont have because i will only fly to bangkok for my holiday.. and visit my cousin who gave birth last october., i am very much confident to myself that they wont refuse me because i am a flyer.. i visited bangkok many times.. not only bangkok.. i've been too many places in asia and middle east plus i have enough cash on my hand. but still they did not let me in. and worst thing is they don't give a refund on my ticket...i thought that it would at least be okay if they refund my tickets because of their misconduct. one of the guy from travel tax desk ask me.. and said ( di ba may kasama kang foreigner kanina, bakit na off load ka? ) that is the worst thing talaga... bakit kailangan ba may kasama kang foreigner para lang makapagcheck in makapag board or what? ganun na ba talaga kababa ang tingin ng mga pilipino sa ating kapwa pilipino? kaya walang asenso ang pilipinas kasi pinipigilang umasenso.
i went back home... and think and think and think...
and now i will go back to philippines and file a case to them.. sana lang magtanda sila.., good thing i still have my itenerary receipt.

Till around 1995, Dhanbad Urban population was largest in Bihar, around 16 lacs. Now, Bokaro is made separate district. Still, Dhanbad is big, as urban population is around 11 lacs and still Bokaro can be included considering its proximity, making this region a really very big urban centre. Dhanbad deserves a quality airport considering this and vast future opportunities in both cities.
Hyderabad is twin cities along with secunderabad. Now Hyderabad has included vast outskirt areas and nearby towns and villages and has become even bigger. It is going to be triple cities with Shamshabad. But they count all population and area in one to show its bigness and develop facilities like internatinal airport. Dhanbad and Bokaro is also very close and together has big population. So, my request to Jharkhand government to do the same.
