I just joined OurAirports yesterday. How does someone create a new message in these forums? I am a bit at loss. I have sent messages to the comments area, and have heard nothing back. Pretty frustrating. Thanks if you can help me.

Very welcome reception

After a drizzly arrival, we were welcomed by the people from the local inn. Call them beforehand. You might be so lucky to get a free coffee and cake, as we did.

Beautiful location in the heart of Northern Bohemia within hilly countryside, Zakupy Castle just on the eastern border of the ATZ, Panska Rock (the Stone Organ) only a few minutes NW from the airport… To name some popular highlights in the vicinity of the airfield.

Friendly people inviting you to spend some time talking about the aviator’s stuff at the local bar… I can only recommend this place for a visit.

This is a really pleasant place if you want to fly or stay and visit the area. You have AVGAS 100LL fuel available on site, a place to park the aircraft. Aircraft service station. Three well -maintained grassy belts.604617218

Great location for summer

The airfield is basic, and you need to be careful for mountainwaves, especially with winds from the west. Also, mind the landscape, I found it difficult the grasp the elevations.

There is a cabin for rent, but I can recommend walking to the nearby camping, where there services.

It is a great location for mountain walks in summer.

Nice Airport

I've only ever flown out of AMS. We have flown United out back to the states. We found the Airport a typical large international airport that seemed a updated and more modern. Signage was good and easy to get around. We spent time in the United lounge and had a good time waiting for our flights there.

ICAO

ICAO code should be: LRBH

ICAO Code

ICAO code shouldn't be LR79, but rather LRIC.

Reply to @QUIK-R-912S:

Hi Carl,

I live within 15 minutes of this airfield and used to fly flexwing in the UK until I moved to Spain. Did you ever find out anything or manage to hanger and fly somewhere else local? I've been looking to get back in to flying here so would find this useful as I'm looking to book up with a flight school here soon to get back in the air. If I do I'll be looking to have a flexwing here.

In the UK I flew out of Stoke (Medway) near Rochester, Kent.

Kind regards

Paul

Spiritual Home

A good friend -Thomas Kupfer- and I got our PPLs here back in 1976!

Our instructor was Peter Fried, the tower was run Herr Walch, and his daughters worked at the airport.

When (I forgot his 1st name) Guillemot took off on a Cessna C320 out of that miniscule airfield (he mentions Biarritz, FR as his destination), it was like being in heaven … my heaven.

It was a tight operation, and to this day I love going there.

To the Walch family: thank you for leaving me with such wonderful memories …. (and thank you to my parents who made this possible for their son … I was very lucky).
