Comment to Nummela's Touch & Go statement here within

Rather than prohibiting small excersizes , like T & G, I would argue that wize PR towards locals directed from the airfield administrators could benefit both sides of noise argument people more. By inviting those few "too-much-noise"-accusers (and they are few) to one or two rides in a plane could prove beneficial to the whole community in the long run. Simple PR. Yours Jyri V. Taxi

Taxi to Dublin Centre was EUR 27, which is comparable to Uber.

Airfield closed

Airfield closed to traffic since at least 5 years I believe. Has a public road crossing the former runway. A chapel on the site is dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto, considered the patron saint of air travellers and pilots by the Catholic Church.

It's called West Wales Airport these days. And it's not in Aberporth, it's in Blaenannerch. It was called Aberporth Aerodrome back in the days when it was purely for use by MoD Aberporth (which was never in Aberporth but in nearby Parcllyn). Then again, "Aberporth" is a lot easier to spell.than "Blaenannerch." And a lot easier to say than "Parcllyn" (the Welsh double-ell isn't what a non-Welsh person thinks it is). But "West Wales Airport" is even easier.

It's never been the same since they extended the runway and re-routed the B4333 so it wasn't close to the end of the runway. There used to be traffic lights on that road for when a plane was taking off or landing, and a sign that meant "give way to low-flying aircraft."

Grass air strip in beautiful surroundings ...

EDFT is a small local grass airfield right in the middle of Vogelsberg, one of the most beautiful and "flight worthy" parts of Germany. Fly in to sight-see or chat with us, we would be more than happy to welcome you.

We have a 680m grass landing strip in mint condition, MTOW 2000 kg for air planes and 4700 kg for helicopters. Local frequency is 122,175, call sign is lauterbach.info. Open SAT/SUN 14h MET to SS, other times PPR. We have MOGAS, but NO AVGAS and various non-alcoholic drinks and small snacks are available at nominal cost, Lodging is available in immediate vicinity and there is MUCH to see ...

Current situation regarding visits

I would lime to visit Cazaux, but understand public visits were not allowed. Is that still the case? If so, is there somewhere outside the base where the aircraft can be viewed?

Major activity of gliders Fri, Sat and Sun. TMG and UL approved, but LSA like Cessna, Piper not, because of noise level.

Lovely!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this airport. It's bright and clean, and the staff are very nice. A solid modern airport with an easy to follow layout - I had a 50-minute international connection and it was more than enough time to pass passport control and security and make it to the gate.

Picture of

Change of plan

Thought I'd take a look at the airport but now I think I should buy some gold.

Flying with ELUAS

Flew from RAF Brawdy with the East Lowlands University Air Squadron in 1976, flying RAF Bulldogs. Incredible fun. First experience of the "Goldfish Bowl Effect" when the blue of the sea and the blue of the sky merged. Didn't realise anything was wrong, (and that I was disorientated), until the controls went all sloppy on me. Recovered facing toward land. Learnt a lot that day.

Definition of "liquid"

Be aware of what is now considered 'liquid' and therefore subject to separate screening procedures and personal allowance when passing through security. This used to be my home airport, so I've flown to and from MAN on many occasions. This time however, clearing security at T1, a recorded message repeated saying that inhalers and deodorant are liquids. What I didn't realise is that even solid stick deodorant and powder inhalers are, apparently, "liquids". I challenged the staff on inspection and they told me there are three main English dictionaries: Oxford, Collins, and Manchester Airport. So even though literally nothing is actually liquid, they have this definition.
