I used this air strip many times and found it excellent for my C182 and the family that own it wonderful people and they donate the landing fee to the Royal flying doctor service and I believe they should be thanked for making it available. I always took my portable electric fence with me to keep the cattle away should they be on the strip after landing.i am going back there shortly and I will report further. Peter Pigott VH UPT

Misleading use of another Airfields name

Whoever is managing the online presence of Romsey Airfield is deliberately misleading people by using Sunbury Airfield's name of "Penfield". The Penfield name comes from Alexander "Doc" Penny, who founded Penfield Airfield at 295 Settlement Road, Sunbury. You are also using Riddell Airfield's name, most likely without their permission. You are obviously doing this to gain more "Key Word" searches, so that people who are searching for Penfield or Riddell will be directed to your business, but what you are doing is illegal and false advertising. Please remove the false name from all your online listings immediately! Penfield Airfield Owner.

Wedding

Steve and I (Jan) had our wedding at Forrest Airport (Station) in 2014. And we will be going back for our 1st anniversary. In the midst Forrest Airport was changing managers. But, every thing went so smoothly. Including dragging the relatives there for just only 4 hours;), it is my day right. See them again in 3 months. Jan

ADG goes EPA

The operators who continually breached the agreement of 20,000 movements p.a. ( Over 40,000 movements, in breech of the act) applicable to the airfield, have now been the main reason that the airfield has to have an EPA license.

What a disaster and what a tragic result and sad result for a beautiful country airfield. All in the name of the dollar and at every other shareholders expense in terms of rules, regulations, impositions, restrictions, pending fines and whatever else the EPA can come up with.

This will now be the only EPA licensed airfield in South Australia. A Government Environment Protection Dept.

It makes one wonder what compensates for greed? At the imposition and impact on others airfield users who did not violate the rules and therefore are not responsible for this airfield now to be forced to be EPA licensed.

feedback appreciated

Hi anonymous you are welcome to call or enail at any time with your concerns as im a little confused where they come from given; we have no landing fees, we welcome anyone to drop in so long as they call first, our Avgas prices are cheaper than the neighbour and we have the best hire rates for RA and GA aircraft in Melbourne.

Planes too noisy over farms

Would whoever runs the pilot training at Romsey airport show some consideration for nearby farmers and reduce the number of take off and landings into or from the north. Some days the you can't hear a person speaking to you as planes fly so low over our farm. Given that to the south of the airport there are no residences, please take off and land from that direction. If the wind isn't suitable then don't fly for training. Thanks. Patrick Francis Moffitts Farm

re: He's at it again.......

Just reading the blogs. It would be laughable about the comment interesting if it were not true.

Sadly, what was stated is true plus a lot of the other blogs about the airfield and its operators.

Most expensive fuel and most expensive instructional rates.

The good comments are possibly posted by the operators or their stooges.

The power lines are on Eastern Threshold...Sorry. I think it is Runway 28 from memory, and probably 100m to 500m...Not a big problem but don't come in too low, especially in low light.

Horrible People

Called in to check the place out, been listening for years about the evil greedy owners, met the wife and son of the owner,,,yep it's ALL TRUE,,, just two words of advice, STAY WELL AWAY.

Picture of

Aldinga airfield, Adelaide Biplanes

Well said. a great location and welcoming crew. you will not be disappointed if you either drive or fly in here. if you are thinking of tail dragger training, this is the place to go. Probably the best range of tail draggers in Australia. minimal traffic, short hop to the training area, minimal wasted time in the circuit or on the ground. good value for money.

judge for yourself

This message is for anyone who is thinking about visiting Aldinga or doing flight training with Adelaide Biplanes. In short, don't listen to anything you read on here, instead go and judge for yourself. These comments give a very false view on what really happens at Aldinga. The vast majority find it to be a great airfield, home to a very professional flight school with a great array of different aircraft. A significantly better option both in terms of cost and quality than anything you will find at Parafield. This is coming from someone who has trained at Aldinga after trying many different options.

Nice place to fly

A great place to fly, the only thing bad about this airport is the thermals from the forest to the east on runway 17/35

Still at it?

To paraphrase Barack Obama, "when ignorant people publicly display their ignorance, you don't have to say too much, just let them run their mouths.."

Picture of

Updated runway condition April 2014

This is a private runway now and permission must be obtained from the owner. The details are in the AOPA or country airstrip guide. I landed and took off from the east/west runway with ease in my RV7. There are rocks protruding from the surface, but is still fine for light aircraft. This is a narrow strip being marginally wider than my wheels.

The owner says the North/South strip may be too rocky to use and he prefers people to use the East/West as it is longer as well.

This is current as of April 2014.

Enjoy!
