re: BA128

Reply to @david:

1. Metz Frescaty is LFSF. I'm not sure that it is closed. The air base is closed but I believe there are still flying clubs there.

2. Nancy Essey is not closed. It is fully active with a nice ILS approach: LFSN. Simply there is no more commercial liners.

ATR 42 diversion

Auxerre had an unexpected arrival 7/6/13 - an ATR 42 of Blue Islands diverted enroute from Zurich to Jersey. Declared an emergency landing due to cracked cockpit window.

Picture of Aeroclub-de-Valloire

Aeroclub de Valloire <aeroclub-de-valloire.com>

This backcountry airstrip opened in 1969 as a facility intended for mountain S & R and early holiday ski activity in the Valloire's mountain resort.

Since and so far, whatever changes came to happen in the economic, touristic, and regulatory field, we have been the only local aeronautical facilitators and actors.

Nice GA airport, no landing/parking fee

Nice airport, with a good restaurant on the field. It is close to Toulouse-Blaganc International airport (LFBO) so IFR pilots can do ILS approaches, cancel IFR and go to Lasbordes. With 950m, it is OK for take-offs but landings on QFU16 have a displaced threshold of 140m due to the road. A bit tricky for planes that do not slow down easily like Mooneys. The solution is to do the approach high, with 3 whites on the VASI to clear the road, aim touch down point at the beginning of the runway (before the threshold), do the flare to lose speed and touch down actually at the displaced threshold. Tip when coming from the East to identify the airport: look for the white Ariane 5 rocket mock-up of the Aerospace museum, just next to the airport, across the motorway. A must to visit, by the way.

Large Airport

Friendly for GA. Jet traffic also on the airport. In a D airspace. Nice scenery of the Mont Blanc when the weather permits.

I was stationed there

When Chambley AB was closed I was transfered to Etain. At that time it was the 388th TFW but became the 49th TFW. I served in Field mainteance, Engine Buildup as a SSGT. Left in 1959 when the base closed for the first time. W.R. Gardiner

Spam?

Has anybody figured out why this airport of all the airports on this site seems to get all the random drive-by spam? I must delete 2 or 3 comments a week from here. (And I'm still not sure whether "Hello. And Bye" and the Russian one are spam). It makes me wonder if the "code for this script" comment is about some spamming software.

Does anyone have the latitude and longitude for the AUB NDB? I'd like to add it to the database, if I can confirm it.

Thanks - I've added those as "CTAF" for now, but please feel free to edit them (under the "Pilot info" tab) to be more specific.

re: This airport should move soon to another place

[Written on 11/11/2012] The decision to move from Nantes Atlantique Airport in the South of Nantes to Notre Dame Des Landes in the North of Nantes is not yet taken. There is a strong opposition to this project. Moreover, if the new airport opens, the old one will not close because it is used by the AirBus company for assembling the planes.

Nice Small grass airstrip

Avgas avaliable from the aero club. Runway surface is very good and taxi way is medium good

Picture of

Prior request before arrival (NOTAM, 20 Aug 2012 til 20 Sep

1) Because of work in progress at the western end of the runway, arriving aircrafts have to inform the AFIS by phone before arrival, for the vehicles of the civil works to clear the path for the landing. This constraint is less strict during weekends but PPR is still required. Information valid from 20 August 2012 until 20 September 2012.

2) AFIS not available by phone on saturdays from 4 Aug til 25 Aug 2012.

re: Information board

Apologies for any problems. The flight information is provided to OurAirports free by FlightStats, and we include it as a convenience for visitors. The data is quite good for major airports, but sometimes seems to lag a bit for smaller airports, especially outside North America.

Picture of

Information board

The flight information is useless, it is never updated and when it is it is hours after the event. Flights departing remain listed as 'scheduled' or 'on time' long after they have departed and even after they have arrived at destination. Same with arrivals, passenger have arrived at their hotels and gone out for Dinner before the arrivals board indicates the flight has arrived. USELESS.

Thanks, I've made the adjustment.

Wrong map display for LFHV

Actually the airport is slight North of the current location of the small aircraft icon. You may want to adjust the map parameters in the Main page. Hope it helps.

I met a commercial pilot at the flying club, he landed expecting the terminal facilities to be available, but was surprised to find a lesser facility. The pilot was from an airport only 100nm away, but not know of the terminal closure!

Flight 31 May 2012

While visiting the area, my two sons and I met Denis Berin the chief pilot at the Nuits Saint Georges airport. He agreed to rent a plane, he came along and I flew for almost an hour over the beautiful France Countryside. Denis made our flight a very memorable experience. It's the people

What a reception. We visited twice in 2011. Once with 5 other CTSWs and later alone. Each time the welcome was exceptional. This included

1. The controller staying late because we were delayed by adverse winds

2. Genevieve - wonderful lady - not only helping us tie down, but running us to our hotel and picking us up in the morning!

3. The parachute club driving us to the local supermarket for petrol as the airfield had run out of AVGAS

We really do like this place!

Refueling both planes and pilots

Since 2 months w've got a restaurant and snack on our field.

And, coming soon during july, a brand new gas station with 100LL and Jet.

Around the field you'll find many bed'n breakfast, and so on.
