The World's First Airport* Dedicated Strictly to Unmanned Dr
The world's first airport designed specifically for unmanned aircraft boasting a 2 ac 20,519ft² runway, will be opening in Mexico, near Queretaro named " Alfa, Charlie, Union, Lima, Charlie, Oscar" as a first step in getting UAVs and drone pilots working together in the same airspace.
The purpose of this training and flight site is to figure out how to safely and ethically fly unmanned aerials systems in the national air space, just like a manned aircraft is flown.
The sky is literally the limit. The opening of various new aerospace plants in Mexico (since 2010) indicates the industry's confidence in Mexico's capabilities as the country's battered economy emerges from recession. Mexico has a fantastic climate diversity and large amount of air space located in areas that is very remote, where there is no chance of causing a safety problem.
MEXICO: SURPRISING LAND OF OPPORTUNITY.
Drone prototypes continue to be developed and tested in Mexico. In other words, advanced unmanned commercial systems might as well have nowhere to fly at all. In the meantime, by not dragging its feet for another fifteen years, Mexico will draw unmanned systems developers that are serious about integrating their robotic systems into a national airspace to its shores for development and testing.
The industry is moving forward. Mexico will be the first country with drone airport, the very first flight, testing and training site.

A nice AirPort
It is a nice airport

nice crosswinds be on your toes
Excellent Airport BUT
The security system is a pain the butt.
You can not go through security with passengers unless you have a stamped flight plan and it is a LONG walk for the security gate the the COmandante's office.
Good restaurant and helpful avionics and maintenance people on the field.
Reasonable landing fees and parking.
Easy access to fuel but some personel have an attitude and are always on Mexican Time.
Nice golf course nearby !!

re: Were's the VOR?
Reply to @ptomblin: Oh wait, that one's already there. Just click the "navaids" checkbox. Not sure what else the original commenter could be commenting on.
re: Were's the VOR?
Reply to @david: I've got a VOR with the id PVR named "VALLARTA" at 20.673094,-105.257497. I think the frequency is 116.6.
re: Were's the VOR?
I'd be very grateful for the information about the VOR (latitude, longitude, identifier, name, frequency, etc.) so that we can add it to the database.
Were's the VOR?
MMPR does have a VOR, AND IT'S NOT ON THIIS MAP!:(

re: New or old?
Yeah, it's 1410. I've edited it.
re: New or old?
I think you're right, Paul. I've added the new airport and move the codes over there. Do you happen to have an elevation for the new airport (MMCC)?
New or old?
DAFIF has a different airport, "Ciudad Acuna Intl New", with the same ICAO code (MMCC) just a short distance away at 29.333917 -101.100892. Both locations look like airports in the satellite picture, although the other one has modern runway markings and this one doesn't. I wonder if this one has closed and re-opened at 29.333917 -101.100892?
re: Formerly MMTG/TGZ
Paul: according to the Wikipedia page, it's GA-only now -- no scheduled airline service. I don't know how Mexico has sorted out identifiers, since the ICAO Guide gives only the city name, not the airport name.
re: Formerly MMTG/TGZ
So is it closed, or what?
Formerly MMTG/TGZ
This airport handled scheduled airline service into Tuxtla Gutiérrez until May 2006, when it was superceded by Angel Albino Corzo International Airport. The new airport took over the ICAO and IATA identifiers from this airport. If you visited central Chiapas before May 2006, this is the airport you flew into.
New Airport
This airport opened in May 2006, replacing Francisco Sarabia National Airport for scheduled airline service into Tuxtla Gutiérrez in Chiapas. It took over the ICAO and IATA identifiers from Francisco Sarabia at that time.
Beautiful New AIrport
