Wrong ID?
I think the airport should get the ICAO id WPDL, not this one.
Kuwait's Naval Base
This heliport is part of the Kuwaiti Navy's only significant base, which was also a major staging area for U.S. forces during the invasion of Iraq.
re: Duplicate?
Thanks, Paul -- I've merged them.
Disputed territory
This territory is claimed by Malaysia, China, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Malaysia currently has effective control, with this airport on a man made island, a small naval base, and a diving resort.
Duplicate?
This appears to be a duplicate of RP10, Shallow Reef Airport, Spratly Islands.
Chiang Kai Shek International Airport SUCKS!
You know what, Chiang Kai Shek International Airport (Taoyuan, Taiwan) SUCKS! I had a stop over flight at Chiang Kai Shek International Airport from Tokyo Japan en route to Manila last November of this year (2008). I found the people in Taiwan's so called International airport unaccommadating, unhelpful to passengers needs. I was lost at the airport then finding my way wondering where should I go next after I disembark the plane from Tokyo. As a transit passenger from Tokyo, I should take another plane en route to Manila. But there was no airport personnel guiding passengers who had just disembark the plane from Tokyo in sight. I found myself discombobulated, disappointed and disgusted. So, I ended up facing a frowning Immigration officer telling me that I got it all wrong.FUCK!
Another thing, Chiang Kai Shek International Airport personnel LOVE to FROWN specially the Taiwanese women at the airport. Their frowning only makes Taiwanese women look UGLIER! HA!

I had been informed Borongan airport will be operational this coming sept. 01, 2008.
improvements at Ozamiz airport
Since the opening of Ozamiz airport last July 2007, Air philippines and PAL express have offered flights to Manila and Cebu respectively. Passengers and cargoes have increased significantly due to its strategic location. Ozamiz airport serves the areas of Ozamiz city, Oroquieta city, Tangub city, parts of Lanao del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur. I heard that Cebu Pacific Air is also flying to Ozamiz in September 2008 by offering Manila flights via Cebu using their ATR 72 plane. The entry of another airline in Ozamiz will definitely boost travel, business and tourism in Misamis Occidental and its neighboring provinces. Works for the improvement of the airport already started in the first quarter of 2008. Expansion of the tarmac, construction of a new passenger arrival building with a luggage carousel/conveyor, installation of the baggage scanner and walk-through detector and car park fencing are almost finished. Ozamiznons are eagerly awaiting for installation of runway lights and extension/expansion of the runway so that bigger aircrafts can land at the airport.

departed aircraft
Good day.
I would like to know what demestic/international aircraft has been departed in Bacolod-Silay International Airport?
Thank you
Chinese-operated airport
China operates this airport to try to assert a claim over the disputed Paracel Islands.
World's highest airport
At an elevation of 14,219 feet AMSL, this is the world's highest airport with scheduled airline service, nearly 1,000 feet higher than El Alto Airport (SLLP) in Bolivia.
getting better
The first I visited this airport was in February 2006. I came back twice, the last time in August 2007. I must say that it improved rather a lot. It felt much more cleaner and re-structured in a more logical way. Customs are very precise, but friendly, and all the rest of the personell is friendly anyway. It does not have all the comforts of European airports, but it is getting better.
Abandoned 727

This airport opened in 1999, taking over scheduled passenger service (and the IATA identifier COK) from Willingdon Island (VOCC).
Former COK
This airport also served as Cochin's main civil airport until Cochin International (VOCI) took over in the mid 1990s, and also took over the COK IATA code.

This airport closed January 2008, replaced by the new Bacolod-Silay City International Airport, which took over its IATA and ICAO airport codes.
Opened January 2008
This airport opened in January 2008, replacing the old Bacolod Domestic Airport, which had the same ICAO and IATA identifiers.
Baiyun
The word "Baiyun" means "white cloud", which is an inauspicious name for an airport. However, it makes a good name for a cockatiel: http://gallery.xcski.com/v/paulart/photo_contest/baiyun.jpg.html
Closed in 2004
This airport closed in 2004, and its name and airport codes transfered to the new airport 12 nm to the north: CAN ZGGG

Hyderabad's new airport
This airport opened on 23 March 2008, replacing Hyderabad's old Begumpet airport VOHY (which is still open for military and some private aviation), and taking over the HYD IATA identifier.

I've removed the id, and will probably delete this soon: I generally include helipads at an airport only when they're assigned a separate code (otherwise, they're just POIs).
