Apparently this is a seasonal or even occasional ice runway on the MjΓΈsa lake.

No longer there

This airstrip no longer exists. The area is now being developed as an industrial park similar to that immediately to the east.

Supply for village

Small northern Helipad in open area that services approx 50 residents in the area. Doctor available for call outs to passing ferry and drill platforms in the area if weather permits and Alseund or Unst are unavailable.

Decommissioned 2004 but still standing

Elf Aquitaine/Total SA owned and operated until October 2004. Still there hauntingly empty and covered in seagulls. Plans to have it sunk have yet to happen same with Frigg DP2 and others in the area but could affect current drilling platforms nearby so will likely will fall on their own or scavenged for parts.

Great Cafe and a cheap date for kids

Great place to feed kids and you can legally stand on the footpath at the threshold of runway 06 which is fabulous fun especially if that's the runway in use.

Excellent visibility for take off and landing

Easy landing and take off with Aurora airlines from Yuzhno-Salkalinsk, little questioning over my Russian visa I think due to being in disputed territory and close proximity to military installations. Exploring active volcanoes in the area, vegetation and ancient oaks all over Kunashir and Kurilsk is a small but lively town.

Interesting airstrip, I had to go with a guide due to security concerns as it is a disputed territory but quite magnificent with no one around. If the guide wasn't there and the military aircraft weren't buzzing overhead you'd think you were on a deserted island.

any idea for accomodation close to Lido?

Hi guys, I am planning amy very first trip to Lido airport, just for the weekend and I want to stay for 2 nights? Does anyone have an idea where to stay for that time? I do not want to pay overpriced hotels, IΒ΄m an ordinary aviation enthusiast without a vallet stuffed with hundred euro bills, but I want to visit as many places as possible. Spending money on my timebuilding now and want something affordable. Thanks for every reasonable idea in advance, I am more than sure that I am not the only one who will appreciate any reccomendation.

Bathrooms not clean

We arrived at 6:45 am and the bathrooms were unclean. I was excited to return to the US via Europe from Africa especially for the bathrooms. But your bathrooms were unclean and many were not working! Also, when you remodel you need to make more women's bathrooms -the lines were crazy long. I was just bewildered that your bathrooms were this poor.

Scampton surprize !

Is the site of the RAF Fire Fighting Museum. Need to watch for open days or organise a trip. See the equipment and crash Trucks that kept the aircraft able to fly from WW1 through WW2 and today, really well presented museum and the vehicles are amazing - because my father drove one the Alvis Mk6 is my favourite and excellently presented.

Closed?

This is a military airfield, bombed by NATO in 1999. Based on the satellite photo, the runway does appear to be maintained.

Picture of david

Reported as (temporarily) closed

According to Wikipedia, this airport is closed as of December 2015, but there are plans to reopen it for low-cost carriers.

Picture of

The airport has sadly been converted into a refugee camp. It cannot be used for aviation any more.

Listed separately from RAF Breighton

Although this airstrip is immediately adjacent to the (now closed) RAF Breighton, it uses a separate runway from the original, which is still visible.

Confusing situation...

This is the western part of the former RAF base, including the North-South runway. It is operated by the Ouse Gliding Club. The Eastern part is operated separately by the "York Flying Club".
