re: Airport Weeze

How right you are.

Picture of

Airport Weeze

When will it be referred to by its correct name: Airport Weeze (EDLV)? It is no longer RAF Laarbruch, nor is it Niederrhein Aiport, nor is it in Goch. It belongs to the City of Weeze.

Do you know if this airport has a flight school? If so, do you know if it accepts American citizens or do I have to be a German citizen?

Review

Good High Quality Runway and more european facilities good atc and nice friendly ground services. We flew from UKFK were it was a complete disaster and we expected the same here. However i was wrong. Expensive services however still much cheaper than in the states or europe.

Review

Very dull airport old abandoned. Most planes aren't used and are just standing there. Small parking space very very very bad facilities and ATC. Runway is visible however ILS is messed up and concrete needs repair. Mainly used for nothing really some people keep their cessna's there however again the facilities are very bad. Had to refuel but i chose to fly to UKFF (simferopol) and refuel there. Again i want to emphasis that no flights or airlines exist or fly from this airport. However it used to operate in soviet union, now it is abandoned and has 3 people working on it. No equipment and no fire fighters! My client ( i am a pilot of a buissness jet) didnt even get his passport checked by customs i wont even mention security.

But on the otherhand the parking space and ATC and landing fees were ridiculously cheap. Its like heaven for pilots if only their were good facilities...

re: The airport is closed and will remain that way

I can confirm that a weekly charter flight (BMI) will be travelling from London Heathrow to Beja every Sunday. More info can be found at sunvil.co.uk/discovery/portugal/alentejo/special-offers/travelzoo-special-offer

Picture of

re: The airport is closed and will remain that way

I have already told you that BMI are flying there in May. Why don't you want to believe this.

Picture of

The airport is closed and will remain that way

Hey guys, let's be honest.

No airline will fly to Beja EVER even because the airport is closed and will remain that way since there are no one interested in operate it. This airport is just for show... and who would want to fly to the middle of a desert? If necessary you can take the road from Algarve or Lisbon and get there is a couple of hours.

Picture of

info about airport

Military base, closed. No tower, no radio.

Don't try to land. Many crap on landing zone.

Now it was used for car games, like rally, dragrace, etc.

re: Closing all operations

Wikipedia says:

The airport is currently closed to air-traffic, although the concrete paved runway has been designated for use by cargo flights in the event of an emergency. There is an aerospace museum on site.

Picture of

Closing all operations

As far as I know this airport is completely closed.

Picture of

Scheduled Opening???

Think I am little late in jumping on this bandwagon but having been doing research on different areas in Portugal, got quiet excited and enthused when I found a piece about a new airport at Beja with an opening date of Spring 2011. Having read all the comments about delays and missed deadlines, feeling slightly deflated!!! This would be an excellent opportunity to bring tourists into an unknown and beautiful area of Portugal - however's decision it is, just make it, there is so much obvious support and need.

Hi all.

Just wondering why aircraft don't do auto landings with all the money that was spent on upgrading the new terminal/runway.

re: misplaced

I moved the icon to the vicinity of the hospital for now -- it's difficult to make out the exact helipad location on Google Maps.

Picture of ptomblin

re: misplaced

Eurocontrol has a heliport at this location, called "GRAZ LKH" with ICAO id "LOGH".

Picture of

misplaced

I would not recommend landing here ;)

It looks like a forest and, yeah, it is a forest and definitively not a heliport.

Maybe the heliport of the hospital about a km west was meant, although that one is not open to public.
