Aviosuperficie Torre S. Emiliano

New airport

This isn't showing up in the satellite image yet (2020-10-10), but there's a new airport here meant to serve Helsinki. More details at https://helsinkieast.aero

Now a restaurant

Appropriately enough, "Il Vecchio Eliporto" ("The Old Heliport")

Got it!

This bicycle itinerary lists parking lot P11 in Borgo Maggiore as the "ex-heliport". Looks like there are now zero active heliports here.

Update 2020

Per the following link, the Borgo Maggiore heliport was at the cable car station. This no longer appears to be the case, there is a "pad" but the cables run right over it!

Russian control

This airport is in Crimea, still internationally recognised as part of Ukraine but under Russian military control. Due to international sanctions, only Russian flights are using the airport.

Brilliant airfield for GA flights

This airfield used to be military but is now open for pilots to visit and it's a great place with a small village about a 15 minute walk with two pubs, both with accommodation. The scenery around here is also amazing - well worth a visit

Corrected -- thank you.

My home airport!

Thanks for sharing the right frequencies. I live near EDDN and watch the airplanes every day and use my flighttracker (https://da-oben.de/flugradar-militaer-und-zivilluftfahrt-flugverfolger/).

Appears closed

@Spinner reported this airport closed. Newer satellite imagery on Google shows a road running along the strip now and out both ends.

From a problem report:

Goodbye and thank you from Redlands Airfield.

After 32 years of our operating our grass strip airfield, based in the village of Wanborough to the east of Swindon in Wiltshire, we have now closed.

We would like to thank our customers and supporters for making Redlands a wonderful site for microlights and skydiving - and for the many thousands raised for charity at the airfield.

"Peace for our time"

This was the aerodrome where PM Neville Chamberlain arrived back from Munich on 30 September 1938, stood outside the airplane, and waved the Anglo-German declaration for the photographers. The airfield was decommissioned in 1947 when the government chose nearby Heathrow as the site for London's major post-war airport.

The runway is closed and is divided by concrete blocks in 3 sections of ~300 meters, better avoid.

Nice flight on a Boeing Stearman PT-13 from 1940!

They have a Boeing Stearman PT-13 from 1940 in perfect conditions (as well as a YAKOVLEV YAK-11 from 1952), and you can have a test flight in them.

Wonderful experience, definitely worth a try!

Hi,

Since this is the only airport in this case, I suggesting creating 2 entries for this airport:

BSL/LSZM for the Swiss part

MLH/LFSB for the French part

or adding a field : "Other/Former codes" with a list of comma-separated other codes (currently sometimes in "Keywords")

Location for baggage collection in a strange place. I ended up out of the "safe" zone, and then I had to go back in to the baggage collection area. Weird.

Excellent grass runway

The airport is very well maintained with friendly staff. Conveniently located just a few minutes from the cosy town of Caorle.

Service shop and a small restaurant on the premises.

New opening date for BER Airport

Berlin Brandenburg Airport is due to open in October 2020, according to the airport operator. Originally, BER should open in 2012, which was repeatedly postponed because of complications during construction.

As soon as the airport opens, the latest arrival and departure times can be viewed on https://airportinfo.live/departures/ber/airport-berlin-brandenburg

Closed

According to a problem report: "The airport is now used by BMW for automotive purposes, among other things."

Closed?

This is a glider field, apparently. One can well imagine it is now in a kind of hibernation.

This airport is closed!

I have been there with car. The runway is unmown and losts of dog walkers on it!

handling fees are a rip off

I have been there with a 172. Not even the very cheep (compared to Germany) fuel for an by intention an almost empty 172 hawk could compensate the landing fees, taxi fees, follow me fees, custom and security fees. On top of that we had to disuss if we are permitted to carry a nail sissor in our private airplane (coming from an gras airfield we could have brought in hundreds of kilos of TNT, nobody cared, but carring a nail sissor in the hand bag going back to our plane was a tremendous problem...) all this makes LUX a very unpleasant airport. I wont go nera ELLX any time soon! Rather go to the colse by airfields in France or Germany! And this is condidereing that part of my family lives about 3km from that airport.
