Info
A great and welcoming place!
Info
Love this place, but it gets a little boggy in the winter
Fuel
You can only use a BP carnet card! Be warned, and if you need a call out it will cost >$250
Curry
Head for the Golden India, such great curries and we fly there just to enjoy one.
Nice place but expensive
Stayed overnight at Forrest with my Daughterand re-fuled. Great for a stopover or break. Airport manager and his wife were terrific, and the dinner was great, but it was the most expensive leg of my whole trip round Oz :(
Ground transport
There are NO taxis!!!
Info
Talk to Peter, PPR.
Land up hill from the river.
A Nice place to stay
They have good camping and huts, and its a nice place.

A great and interesting guy, and a fantastic visit.
Danger!
PPR required, and power lines to the north (Don't try and over fly) and Power line to the south across the strip (You have to fly under it)!!
Owner is Dex
Info
Hard to get PPR, have to follow lots of rules, but friendly with fuel.
Great place
A great place, welcoming and friendly with a fantastic club house with beds up stirs and a shower
Info
Gravel Runway, mainly used by the RFD. Call the road house to check.
Nice Place
Easy to get fuel 100LL or the sorvo on the edge of the field, also a good shop and does a nice fish and chips
Best lunch
The terminal building is sometimes open, if not then you don't pay landing fees. If no ATC then you have to speak French & close your flight plan by calling Rennes or Brest. There is a gate at the left side of terminal, the current code is 1970 then lunch at the Routier café 2 mins walk to the right, (spot the lorries!) Excellent value @ 13euros including wine, not that you will be drinking...

Haven't been there since Sid was the major domo. Times change.
Glad to hear it is still being used, by pilots. I recommend you disregard
the negative waves of the poster above. Yeah Sid might have been Sid,
which meant no time for fool's. But at 17, he was 'the man', to me.
A 'hail fellow well met'. Taught me what a short field 270 degree approach
should look like. And other things from the characters that haunted Sids

LIGHT ACROSS THE BAY
Good Morning
I am a retired Captain(KLM) and visit the Ny Alesund webcam daily. (I miss the webcam you used to have in the control tower)
The new high definition webcam looking out over the station often shows a small light just across the bay from the harbour. I am really curious as to who or what would be out there in such a remote place.
If you are able to satisfy my curiosity I would be very grateful to you.
Kind Regards
Murdo MacDonald

SALEM Airport: A win-win proposal cochin-salem-chennai and v
As a city, salem has good potential, atleast for weekly thrice flights to mumbai and delhi as people from salem use either banglore, coimbatore and chennai to board flights to these main metros.Daily flight to mumbai via hyderabad would be really a viable option. Also coichin-chennai daily flight of airindia and other private operator could be used as coichin-salem-chennai and vice versa.by using coichin-salem-chennai,salem passenger travelling to southeast asian countries could use chennai as boarding point, and also could use cochin as boarding point for travelling to destinationsin middle east countries.
so,10chennai-salem-cochin and cochin-salem-chennai will be a Win-Win model for both salem passenger as well as airline.moreover,RCS scheme of cent govt will encourage too for airline operators to connect salem.
