Excellent infrastructure in UDR Airport

I liked this airport which is well maintaining. But there is no pick and drop area in raining time. Last time I had totally wet in a blaster rain at airport. And also need a florescent sign board before 500 meter in the front High way which showing for airport diversion. Now a days the judgement of airport entrance is difficult at night time.

UHPO

serves as a helicopter base for flights to nearby volcanoes and reindeer herders. Our helicopter was refueled there on a flight from Esso to a reindeer herders' summer camp and before the 90min-flight to the volcanoes (Klyuchevskaya, Tolbachik etc) and back to Esso.

GA Pilots useful info

Last visit: summer 2014

Fuel: Avgas available, the fuel station is located on the opposite side of the GA parking ,so on the arrival if you need to refuel the aircraft, it would be better to communicate your intentions before vacating the runway.

Parking and landing fees: Landing fees are generally speaking low, but the price for the parking is almost the double of the last year, and three times of two years ago!!!

Note: Visit the Aeroclub of Barcelona Sabadell, very friendly people and professional istructors, very good restaurant (low prices). The aerodrome is only 20 km far away from Barcelona (taxi available on the aerodrome and very cheap)

GA Pilots useful info

Last visit: summer 2014

Fuel: Avgas available, during summertime check also thru notam or by phone for any fuel supply limitation

Parking and landing fees: PPR (6h) required during summer for the parking availability (parking on grass for single engine aircraft).

Landing and parking fees: none!

Not controlled aerodrome

Fuel: not available so if required a technical stop to Mahon will be necessary

Pilot Useful info (last visit: summer 2011)

I've fly to IBIZA airport only 3 times between 2010 and 2011. On my last visit we choose IBIZAR as handler and we park the aircraft, a PA-32 (MTOW 1,3T) for 8 days

total fees around 250€.

Now as I've heard AENA (that is also the aerodrome operator) has raised up to 50% the total costs of the parkings and landing fees, so to park the same aircraft now maybe the total costs will be almost double. On the other hand ES CODOLAR is the only way to reach IBIZA or Formentera island by GA plane.

CAUTION : During summer if your flight is under IFR a departure slot is mandatory!

Picture of GCom

GA pilot useful info (last visit: summer 2014)

Caution: heavy parachuted activity in summer

Aereodrome managed by private operator (NO AENA!) so it does not figure on the published Aerodrome list on the AENA website.

VAC chart available only thru JeppTC or Flitestar

Fuel: Avgas and JET-A1 available

Landing fees: 10 €

Parking: 10 €/day, expect to park on grass during summer

Note: FireFighting aircraft and Ultra-light activity on the aerodrome

Picture of GCom

Rank *****

Carswell Air Force Base

Stationed at Carswell 1986-1992 during the last years of the Cold War and the end of the Reagan presidency. The base has lots of history, from the roll-out of all the great Convair and General Dynamics aircraft across the field, to being a movie star in Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart. It was a great assignment, and a wonderful area (even though the summers were just too hot!). Loved watching the sky turn black when the B-52Hs all took-off during the major exercises, followed by all the KC-135s. What a sight to behold! Also loved the impromptu airshows when GD rolled-out a new F-16 for initial flight tests right over the airfield! That always brought everyone out of their offices, and stopped Commissary & BX shoppers in their tracks to watch the performance!

BognorRegis My home town.

I always wondered why I was born in Bognor Regis, now it makes sense to me. My parents were Lived in London until just after the war (my mother born in London and my Father born near his ancestral home of Ely, but grew up in West Ham). My Father was a Fighter pilot during the Second world War and in 1945 his was with 83 G.S.U. training on Typhoon fighters to go to the far east for the fight against the Japanese. At this time 83 G.S.U. was stationed at Bognor then Westhampnet (Goodwood today). So this would explain where My parents got the notion to move to Bognor Regis. My father had spent time there and knew what it was like.

Airport Information & Airfield Diagram

The RP CAA AIP has absolutely nothing in the way of basic essential airport diagrams w/information for any airport in the Philippines. It would be great if they published airfield diagrams showing all runways, taxiways & markings for parking areas. It should also include valid ICAO identifier, valid LAT/LONG, Field elevation & all Frequencies just as a minimum. It is almost impossible to find any information online for Laguindingan (RPMY) airport. That goes for any other Philippine Airport. You can't even find an airfield diagram for Manila International in the CAA AIP or online. The only way is to subscribe to Jeppeson. RP CAA, please publish something. Thanks.

Advise about arrival Cairo Airport II

When it comes asking for bakshish or tips. DON'T PAY!

If you are in the taxi and the luggage in the trunk and they ask for tips; leave the taxi and start removing the luggage. It's just pretend because they will then drop the demand for tips right away. You can tip at the other end 10 - 20.00 L. E. if everything went smoothly, it's a long ride and it's very cheap to get from the airport to city center.

A bit of advice about Cairo Airport.

I have my grave suspicion that the previous comment was written by an airport staff. (The poor spelling and overly positive remarks)

Leaving the plane, getting your visa at one of the banks and getting down to the conveyor belt is quite easy. When you finally leave customs you are met with a plethora of driver-managers with badges and what-not. Ignore them even if they grab your trolley. Cross over the street to the opposite site and descent down to a lower level to the official 'white' taxis. You will get wild quotes for driving to downtown Cairo but a fair price Oct. 2014 is 100.00 Egyptian Pound. You might have to wait a minute but a driver will arrive and accept the price. Make sure you are booked with your name with the policeman sitting next to the taxis.

But remember that you can get your visa at the airport, how many countries gives that easy access to their country?

Short

Caught some "attitude" here from more than a few people. Wasn't as friendly as I would have liked.

Picture of Pilot_1975

Woo hoo! Three forks saved the day!

Traveling due West I ran head on it to worsening weather. spun around and tried to get back in the clear but the sky opened up and the worst rain I've ever encountered began to fall. Flash flood stuff. immediately headed toward the closest airport (Three Forks). Landed with plenty of thunder and lightening. Moral of the story. You can watch the weather very closely (I DID) and still get bushwhacked! Thank you Garmin!

Nice area, nice general aviation airport.

Great airport / FBO. A bit spendy but hey, worth it.
