Great FBO
One of the best! Really great service - had the rental car next to the p[lane on the ramp almost before I cut the engine. Buy your fuel at the self serve pump; it's at least a dollar per gallon cheaper. $6 a night tie down charge reasonable. SAF must be the only adobe style control tower in the world!
Can you fly Radio Controlled aircraft at this airport?
I fly large (2m wingspan) RC electric aircraft - is there a club or facility to fly at Quatro Vientos airport? I live in Tres Cantos!

Unfriendly
This is an extremely unfriendly and PPR strip which is too bad because it is perfectly situated to take full advantage of Buttonville closing - and has some old RCAF jet parts onsite.
I recommend you make your forced landing in an adjacent field before this place!! Go to Greenbank or Lindsay instead.

yes it is a wasted opportunity they should just go ahead & extend the runway say 700 meters and a new international terminal and they will come ,, the turists with a year of aggresive international advertizing at times the new facility will be full like in october for the famous massaara BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME !

Learnt to fly there. good (light) traffic experience from first flight on. Solo 6:35. Throttle failure, forced landing 16:00. PPL flight test 40:10. Thank you Les Antrobus. (and Norman Edwards [ex-RAF Spitfire Instructor], and Jerry Dunn [ex-RRAF]. Dudley Barlow, [ex Bomber Command, 26000 hrs], declined my request for instruction. Said he could'nt steer without 4 throttles. And a few others. Can you imagine the parties in the airway club pub. And a Speedbird Captain making a special visit to buy me a beer after my throttle failure (and thank me for getting out of the way of his VC10 which was on long finalsat the time. At 43:00 hours, Chip Kay, gave me two hours of short field landing at Confortzi's {loose sand], Malamula [trees bothends, goats in the middle] and finally at his home base, Satemwa,[starting at 500', full flap, full throttle,yoke back under your ribs,full up trim, stall warning screaming,total commitment at 400ft, touch on a veritable golf tee.....] I still sweat at the thought but revelled every second.

Bad experiences ?
I am really surprised to read about the bad experiences some people here had at the airport. I travelled 8 times to Vietnam the last 8 years and I had never such an experience. People always were very polite and helpful. Do customs at this airport have a special attitude to people from Vietnamese origin? I myself am from Europe.

I am an American expat and I routinely get ripped off by airport customs at HCMC. One thing I have found is that you can negotiate. It is shameful and even India doesn't do this. Not a very good face for tourists. I am used to it but it is aggravating nonetheless.

It was happiest moment that our airport is inograted & it was hoped that the flights will take - off & land very soon,
but all hopes were remain as hope & now we think that there are no more chances for longer time to run this airport.

Some days ago i was in Romanian like tranzit passanger , when i come to pasport control , support man - cant speaking with me English no one understand nothing , then they spoke me that they will deport me for 5 yers without reason becauase i start discuss about troubles . ok np that was so bad .
I wish that i never will be come to Romanian and i hope that everyone will make conculison at my massege , and no one will come to this shit Airport .

Since you're not really related to the person, I think it is better to provide them a hotel accommodation, so they'll know you'll not be palaboy in HK.I'm not really sure if it is a good idea to claim that you're visiting a friend, I think they'll still ask for different docs or proofs. Maghahanap talaga sila ng butas para hindi ka makaalis. Ganun sila.

Sorry we missed your post but for future plans, the group is very active and most of the time there are members at the airport that would gladly help you in any way they can. You can always request a cab from the airfield to downtown Hamilton or any other destination.

Dangers using this airfield
there are a number of holes on the runway which is covered in grass and s difficalt to see. beware of the cows, people and cars on the runway.

I arrived to Muscat Int. Airport at Oman yesterday as a transit passenger from Dubai with 14:45 Fly Dubai flight. I enjoyed being there, cute airport but I am afraid I forgot my light green transparent folder which containes company paperwork and licences. On the folder, my name Mr. Noor is written with a number #1209. I think I left it at the Oman Air desk located in front of the transit desk at the transit hall. Are you saying Aldinga is being used for all the wrong reason, if so what are they I know there is plenty of chaos there?
Only the other week an inexperienced pilot landed there with is family, thinking naturally that everyone be using the in to wind runway, landed and taxied back. He crossed another runway while an aircraft was on final to that runway, a go-round ensued and the pilot copped an un-helpfull mouthful from one of the instructors. Sure he was in the wrong, but in his own words he could not figure what the hell was going on, he assumed the aircraft had landed behind him, in his words to me was βit appeared aircraft were going everywhere with disregard to logic and making operations unsafeβ.

I donβt get it, the food is great and the Smiths treat people well, I agree. Who is flying like a TOOL??? Are you talking about operations and the flying school? I agree the ops are chaotic, we had a meeting with CASA a few years ago over it, itβs an ongoing problem I admit, or who else is flying like a tool? If its a great overall environment what is your point with all this stuff about "intentionally breach air legislation" and "flying like a tool" ????

Land rwy 16; take off rwy 34 - there's no go-around because of the mesa just south of the airport, so you need to nail the landing first time. The runway slopes upwards towards the south which makes it easier.
