This airport can not be used due to an exclusive contract given to the airport in Tirana. When that contract ends its chocks away ! The German company who developed Tirana wisely did not want competition. As Tirana reaches capacity this argument may be seen as dog in the manger.

Mainly microlights fly from here. Most of the old ww2 airfield is put over to Saturday and Sunday markets on the hardstanding of the old runways. One runway is used to park/store vehicles. The old control tower can still be seen tho dwarfed by a telephone mast.

Intro
Learned to fly there in mid 70s. First to use first tar runway,m which we build with stones from the former railway line. Once you have soloed there no airfield will appear daunting, since the runmway is the worlds narrowest aircraft deck, which seldom points into wind. Still a great place to fly/soar/tour, all year round. Got my Gold height in Jnauary, Diamond in June, it really is all year soaring, but just a touch cool in winter

Reply to @prattsoplenty: Oops; I didn't fully research that last bit. The Gulfstream in KHOU was a G-III, not this G-II. The G-III did have the XA-FOU registration at one point before being sold and registered in the US as N85VT. The G-II became N559LC.

Saw this photo on my Twitter feed: http://s845.beta.photobucket.com/user/bizjets101/media/XA-FOU1_zps081490e0.jpg.html and looked further into this incident. Turns out the Mexican G-II (XA-FOU) used the race track for a fuel emergency landing after running out of options at Shannon due to fog. There was no damage so the insurance company built a runway (the asphalt seen running east-west on either side of the more recently built winner's circle) and the aircraft departed safely. Since the flight was a transatlantic flight, the International Airport tag fits. Sadly, the Gulfstream was destroyed in 2004 trying to land at KHOU, in the fog.

Tristars and VC10s
The reason the RAF doesn't use VC10s for passenger is because they are old, knackered and there would be absolute bloody uproar if one came down whilst full of soldiers. Tristars are a similar story, they were twenty years old when the RAF got them in the early nineties, and as a result are similarly knackered, and spend a lot of time being fixed.
This is why the MoD has replaced these aircraft with the lovely new, fuel efficient A330 Voyager MRTT.
And the RAF charter in civilian carriers for the same reason other airlines charter aircraft, when demand for airtrooping exceeds the RAFs ability to supply it.

560m grass strip, no runway lights. The 06/24 strip is closed, but do have runway lights that can be lit up from the tower.

Airport Cerklje is military airport where civilian flights are alowed under certain conditions. PIlots withouth national passports holder must sent request 48 hrs in adwance for landing at airport. Request should be sent to local flying club. Landing and take off are possible outside military working hours.
RWY 1 bearing 27 and 09. 2400 m long, 45 m wide. Concrete with antiskid.
Airport frequency 123,50 (outside working hours).

Has anybody figured out why this airport of all the airports on this site seems to get all the random drive-by spam? I must delete 2 or 3 comments a week from here. (And I'm still not sure whether "Hello. And Bye" and the Russian one are spam). It makes me wonder if the "code for this script" comment is about some spamming software.
