I met a commercial pilot at the flying club, he landed expecting the terminal facilities to be available, but was surprised to find a lesser facility. The pilot was from an airport only 100nm away, but not know of the terminal closure!

Flight 31 May 2012
While visiting the area, my two sons and I met Denis Berin the chief pilot at the Nuits Saint Georges airport. He agreed to rent a plane, he came along and I flew for almost an hour over the beautiful France Countryside. Denis made our flight a very memorable experience. David Hughes Mission Viejo, California

Popham
Well known, popular and affordable (for greater London area) airfield with two grass strips.
Curiosity: Trees that used to make landing difficult in the early days where only possibly to remove due to a legal loop hole: tree protection orders in UK are re-issued every so often, but it lapsed just before xmas holiday and the owner knew the issuing authorities were all off and wouldn't return to re-issue another one until the new year so he managed to cut down the offending trees in that time.

runway orientation on Google Maps' satellite imagery
Google's satellite pictures of Leipzig/Halle airport are outdated (and have been for years now), so to see correct orientation of this airport's southern runway (08R/26L) use map view.
It's the people
What a reception. We visited twice in 2011. Once with 5 other CTSWs and later alone. Each time the welcome was exceptional. This included
1. The controller staying late because we were delayed by adverse winds
2. Genevieve - wonderful lady - not only helping us tie down, but running us to our hotel and picking us up in the morning!
3. The parachute club driving us to the local supermarket for petrol as the airfield had run out of AVGAS
We really do like this place!

Runways
Main runways in use are 09/27 (~900m) and 18/36 (~800m). Both runways are in quite good shape but bumpy. After heavy rain water patches can be present.
Fuel
Fuel is not yet available at Miroslawice airfield. The fuel station is a work in progress and should be completed by the end of 2012.
If you need to refuel without any problems go to EPLU (~25 NM NW, no landing/handling fees) or to EPWR (few miles to the North. Expect landing and handling fees).
Refueling both planes and pilots
Since 2 months w've got a restaurant and snack on our field.
And, coming soon during july, a brand new gas station with 100LL and Jet.
Around the field you'll find many bed'n breakfast, and so on.

Frequency error Muravlyanka NDB "US"
Should read 1025kHz not 103kHz
BA NDB frequency error
Frequency should be 1175kHz not 118kHz. Also has not been heard since Dec 2005 so may be off air/decommissioned
Wrong frequency for Krasny NDB
Should read 1025kHz not 102kHz.
Left out a word about P 493 NDB
I should have included the word "threshold" after "runway 16"
P 493kHz NDB
P 493kHz is not listed. Location is north of runway 16 like an inner marker. 47 22 55 N, 17 29 28 E ~473ft.
re: civil airport!!!!!
Larisa doesn't have 300,000 people; the main city itself has about 100,000 people in it, with the suburbs and surrounding municipalities perhaps adding about 100,000: that's a total of 200,000 people.
Now, if you have a close look at the map, this airport has a few serious problems:
1. Its layout has left no provision for civil (general and commercial) aviation installations (terminals, maintenance hangars etc) at all.
2. The runway is OK, but the exits and entrances were not designed for commercial aircraft; at best, it would suit business jets up to the size of a Bombardier Global 8000, and you can pretty much forget planes like a Boeing 737 or an Airbus A320 (and its family) or bigger. It would need major modifications and upgrades.
3. There's the Nea Anchialos National Airport outside nearby Volos (IATA: VOL, ICAO: LGBL), which already has a terminal.
re: construction/renovation
From what Company do you guys get the tickets to vinnitsa airport from? I've tried for the last couples of months and I couldn't find any, I'll have to go to kiev. which sites do you go? plus I think they renovated the airport to airfield airport which is too small for international flights.

Nice refueling
Nice moderately large airport, friendly and helpful staff. Gas 100LL (expensive as everywhere in Italy), very moderate landing fee.
Glider base
Landed there as it is just across the fence of the ITER research facility. General impression: busy, windy & French. There are hundreds of sailplanes, several clubs, many hangars, three runways (depends on how you count them). People are very friendly & helpful, but do not expect too much English there. They understand English on the radio but do not reply (neither in English nor in French), so you should look out and behave. No landing fee, no complications, but also no taxi phone numbers, no easy transportation service from the airport to the nearby Manosque. Will come back.
Cute & pleasant
Nice small airport, VERY friendly people, nice restaurant, gas, no landing fee. What else do you want?
