A charming jewel on the edge of Nebraska

Eppley is, for some reason, one of my favourite airports. It's small and easy to navigate, short on facilities, but big on charm. It has a welcoming atmosphere and is very peaceful on account of its light flight schedule. Its record annual passenger number is just over 5,000,000, so it's not a major hub and is totally free of the hustle and bustle you find in the airports of most major cities.

According to Wikipedia, it is ranked as the 61st busiest airport in the United States, but the number of passengers quoted on that list is less than half of what the airport itself claims. If we take the airport's figures as gospel, then it would rank as the 46th busiest airport in the US, but it's likely the numbers from airports surrounding it on the list are also higher than Wikipedia thinks.

For context, the top three airports by passenger numbers in 2024 were Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson, Dubai, and Dallas Fort Worth with 108,067,766, 92,300,000, and 87,817,864, respectively.

re: History on this airport?

Reply to @LongBranchFlyer: Last topographic map that depicted Newport Bay Airport was from 1951. It was no longer depicted in the 1956 topo map. It likely closed between 1951 and 1956 then. At the time, it was known as Balboa Airport shown with two structures and two runways in a reverse L shape. It was not depicted on a 1947 topo map, so it must had a very brief history.

Awesome 3600’ long grass strip!

Beautiful and well maintained grass strip. Awesome people! A great place to visit!

Picture of canfly172

re: Can anyone verify?

Reply to @david: It is 2192 ft long. Trees and marked hydro lines at the West end but open to the East. Plenty long enough for a Cessna 172, etc…It is CWS3, a public airport and now in the CFS.

Great grass strip airport!

I attended their annual BBQ on August 9th, 2025.

It is a beautiful 2192ft grass strip! Awesome, friendly people! Trees and powerline (marked with orange balls) at the West end.

New Jersey Air Victory Museum

Located at South Jersey Regional. A first rate museum with aircraft from Korean Conflict forward. Also an amazing display of aviation artifacts. Reasonably priced. For more info check out the website.

Great stop

Wonderful pilot accommodations! Has a shower and even a friendly airport cat. 10/10

The runway is curved

The south end of this runway curves east so if you land 35 you really have to overshoot the threshold a bit

Home!

Since 2006, all my flight travels start here! The upgrades of the years have been an improvement but I'd love to see more.

Picture of bhicks69

A good upgrade for those that remember...

I've flown to and through Austin - both decades ago and this year. Begrstem is a well laid out and design airport. It also has good options for food and clubs.

Keep your eyes open

Your eyes can't be everywhere every time, you will need the help of some special set of people to look into places which you can't and one of those people is premiumhackservices@gmail.com who can help you look into anything in the digital world and get anything you want, I don't want to spill the beans but you know what I'm talking about so go get it, it's at arm's reach.

re: Super small!!

Reply to @Tchoupy63: Any airport with airline service is "medium" compared to some of the tiny, private fields in this site's database.

re: Super small!!

Reply to @Tchoupy63: Small runway but 'regional' airport; only one on the island.

This is a super small airport, and you rank it as a medium airport?

The Old Campbellford Airport

This aerodrome was marked on National Topographic System maps dated 1960 and 1971. From Google Earth, a two-bay hangar seems to have remained standing along County Rd 30 until c.2020.

Crypto Scam Recovery

I know how it feels to be a scam victim because I was once lured years back. I lost some funds investing into a forex trade turned out to be scam. I remember how hard surviving was and how I had to live my life knowing I didn't have much in my savings. Afterwards, I linked up with an online recovery team (Blockchainrecall@gmail.com). They put me through some steps and collected my information about the scam. I am really impressed on how they recovered my scammed funds. If anyone finds this review useful, contact them immediately via mail Blockchainrecall(at)gmail(dot)com.

Odd Little Airport

The runway is 6500 ft long but only 2000 ft near the middle are paved. Local lore says that the owner built it to fly his Learjet from.

Small Private Airstrip

One of several Ottawa-area airports modelled for MS Flight Simulator 2004 by Roger Wensley. Visible in GeoOttawa's 1976 imagery, clearly extended further west by 1991 and graveled or paved. Extended even further west and shortened at the east end when houses were built on the east end of the runway in the late 1990s.

Pontiac Airpark is Back

It's not listed in the CFS any more, but it's definitely still in use. Several posts in Ottawa-area aviation Facebook groups show the runways being cleared in 2022 and hosting a fly-in in 2024.

GO HERE

You can park at Porter FBO for 5 hours, if staying longer I recommend Stalport. Either case, you need to book at least a few hours ahead of time.

Walk to downtown Toronto in like 5 mins. Bike rentals just outside of the tunnel and Uber anywhere too. Or grab a water taxi to the islands.

Landing fee is about $35, fuel is always cheaper here than most smaller airports. Porter parking for 5 hours is $50, Stalport is a bit more, but longer timelines.

Make sure you read the CFS carefully for this airport, there are specific arrival procedures for VFR

Such a fun destination

I go here regularly. If you call the Kingston Flying Club ahead of time you might be able to book a courtesy car, which is AWESOME.

The views flying through here are amazing, and downtown Kingston a short Uber ride away (if you don't get a car) is super nice, lots of shops, vibrant water-front.

re: DAY USE ONLY

Reply to @Peacewind152: I ran over that divot last weekend! Quickly pulled up to keep the prop off the ground. Can't believe a year later and it hasn't been fixed yet.

Nice Airport to visit!

Uber serves this airport, it's a short ride to the Carp Farmers Market on Saturday mornings (one of the largest farmers markets around)

Village of Carp also has a couple of nice coffee shops, a micro-brew restaurant, amazing ice-cream shop.

March Golf Course is across the street of the rwy 28 threashold (it's a long walk, but Uber would be a short ride, could potentially call the golf course for a ride too)

reccomend

Lush Grass strip like landing on carpet with camping

Picture of SuperMaule

Clear Creek International Airport

Clear Creek International Airport is a very challenging grass airstrip. It not only requires a Supercub, Maule, Husky, light Cessna 180 or similar type aircraft, but very a proficient pilot too. That said, the runway is in great condition and offers great hunting and fishing opportunities. Please feel free to contact me for information or permission to land. James Black

Not closed, just seasonal

The Canada Flight Supplement current to 17 April 2025 lists Morrisburg as an open airport, code CNS8. I'm not sure why it was marked closed; maybe someone was confused as the airport only operates 16 May to 15 Oct and has Xs placed on the runway for the winter.

Long Runway

It's a long runaway. But other than that. Good City Choice
