Springerville Airport
They have a new self fueling station that is open 24/7. Price is usually one of the least expensive in Arizona and they have both Jet A and 100LL. It is usually a windy airport in the afternoon and when coming from the west over the mountains it can be quite bumpy. This is a high density altitude airport so make your calculations prior to take off during the summer months... not uncommon to have a density altitude of 10,000 ft or more!
Airport status
I landed there and camped before it was closed
Wrong ID?
The FAA uses AZ01 for Outback Ranch Airstrip in Wenden.
Wrong ID?
The FAA uses 'AZ40' for Sheepy Hollow Ranch (and yes, it's "Sheepy" not "Sleepy")
dateland airfield
Have bought property near the airfield, Hope there be more information about it.
Good self serve fuel prices.
Good fuel prices.
There's a good bit of IFR training here. They stack in the hold at the Stanfield VOR 5-miles to the West & than shoot approaches into CGZ.
We always stop here !
Great fuel price and GREAT people.
Ganado, AZ 85V
Dirt strip in the middle of not much. Be careful! Soft at north end and power lines at south end. Did this in an A36.
Kingman airport
KIGM was a military training field in WW2. It had thousands of aircraft on the field, which extended quite a ways to the southwest at that time. It is much smaller now, although local lore has it that expended cannon shells and other training artifacts can be found in the desert to the south.
KIGM has an excellent breakfast/lunch cafe open every day except Monday.
Great place to learn to fly!

Next time you're in the area, look up Mr. Howard Deevers, a living legend in his own 50 years of aviation. Ask him how "Doc" is doing these days... you might even get him to show you how to fly, sign off on your certificate, take a look at your engine, or help you get your next rating. It's one-stop shopping with this incredible guy!
