The Silver Wing
Visited St Mary's on Sunday, March 15 and had breakfast at the Silver Wing, which occupies the second floor of the nice new terminal building on the field. Nice restaurant, good food, terrific view of the ramp and runway. With the way airport restaurants have been closing, stop in and keep these nice people in business!
no air traffic control
There is however regular scheduled service to Washington DC, Detroit and Philadelphia from State College. Allegedly on home football game days this becomes the busiest uncontrolled airfield in the US/the world (depends on the source). The runway had to be lengthened to allow Michigan to land their enormous jet with the whole team and band on board.
Wrong ID?
The FAA uses PA48 for Holy Spirit Hospital Helipad.
re: Wrong ID?
OK, I've removed the code for now. I can't find the right code for this airport, so perhaps it has been closed or delisted.
Wrong ID?
The FAA uses PA47 for Cloudbound in Gettysburg.
Wrong ID?
The FAA uses 5PA0 elsewhere.
Wrong id?
There is a different 21PN in the FAA data.
Closed?
This used to be in the FAA data, but it isn't any more.
re: You're a bit behind
Thanks, Paul -- I've made the updates, and put the old IDs in the keywords field.
You're a bit behind
A few FAA updates ago, Allentown Queen City changed id to KJVU and now it's changed id again to KXLL. (Except the FAA screwed up and put "XLL" in the FAA id part and "KJVU" in the ICAO part of the data)
FBO and airport fees
I think this is the only FBO at Capital City Airport. They've blocked comments on AirNav, but here's what I got from a phone call today for a light piston aircraft:
Facility fee: $25.00 (waived with 5 gallon fuel purchase).
Ramp fee: $15.00
Landing fee: $8.00 (she wasn't sure about the exact amount)
It doesn't make sense for a quick fuel or lunch stop. Nearby Harrisburg International (KMDT) also has the landing fee, but not the ramp fee at the FBO.
Landing fee
The airport has an $8 landing fee for light piston aircraft, but the FBO has reasonably good gas prices ($5.20/gallon on 12 May 2008).
GO HERE, you'll regret it if you pass it by
Ok, if you're rusty on your short-field, crosswind, uphill landing techniques...take a long a flight instructor. But perched atop a taxiway about 500 ft from the runway is the best cafe/restaurant in the NY Metro area. Airport can be hard to find amongst the farms and hills, but overall is a great place for food. Cafe is open Thurs-Sun 7am-3:30pm. Don't sound like an idiot on the radio....when the cafe is open they broadcast the unicom in there!
re: This airport has a new identifier.
Thanks FLUNKN -- I've updated the code.
This airport has a new identifier.

Good home cooked food in the Runway Cafe
Lock Haven
Great airport! FBO will provide ground transportation into town for a meal or over to the other side of the field to visit the Piper Aviation Museum. The collection is modest, but worth the trip for anyone interested in Piper history.

Reply to @david: I was there today and once again I had to pay a $150.00 ramp fee, and what did I get for it? NOTHING!!! The TV never works and now they do not have a crew car. I asked them twice and thought maybe someone would offer us a ride but they told us twice that we could walk to the stripmall. Unless I absolutely have to go to KCXY I will go to KMDT!!!
