Nice airport

Quiet small airport. Well maintained runway, good approaches, nice folks at the FBO. Finding it is a tiny bit of a challenge, though following the railroad while checking a Pearson VOR radial helps. Loved the autumn scenery around Grimsby - so quiet, so sweet.

Porter Airport Parking / Toronto Island Airport Parking / Bi

This is for those that have complained about the expensive parking rates at the airport above aka Toronto City Center Airport or YTZ.

I recently had to catch a flight out of Porter and parked at 19 Bathurst St, just behind the Amsterdam Brewery, which happen to only be a short 5 minute walk to the terminal. And at only $20/day, it was a no brainer. Especially when you consider that Porter airport charges a whopping $38/day!

Cheers

This site

Just checked my wife's flight from Durban to see if there was info, last updated 111 minutes ago, she has called to say there is a 20 min delay so I'm guessing this site is as useful as a chocolate fireplace, what a joke!

Great Little Airport

As you would expect commercial flights are somewhat limited but always within short jumps to major connectors.

The Airport itself is friendly, clean and offers good amenities for those flying in an out.

Private aviators will find great service from TACair with easy and covered access to tarmac.

It's nice to fly from a place where you can relax and not rush.

re: Why Is It ORD

According to the wikipedia entry for O'Hare (which I can't link as an anonymous coward) the airport was originally Orchard Field Airport.

Antonov AN-2

In august 2011 I flew as a passenger in the Texel-based historic Antonov AN-2 with the founder of the Texel Scool of Skydiving, Bob Rienks. I flew in to Texel in 1995 with a Cessna C-172 from France (LFIH). A very cosy airfield with a restaurant, hotel and a museum and a lot of visitors coming from England, Germany or farther away.

re: field elevation!!!

Thanks for the warning. There are a batch of smaller Australian airports where the elevation in meters was labelled as feet in a free dataset at some point in the past, and that data has made its way to many aviation web sites, including OurAirports. We're fixing the problems as we find them, and I've updated Kyneton now.

Feel free to point out any more problems, or even better, create a free OurAirports account and you'll be able to edit the airport information directly.

Thanks again!

My first pilot experiences were at Chalais LFIH

A rural airport with all kind of friendly pilots. Here I started my pilot's career with my instructor Edmond Fradon. I started on Cessna 150, and flew also their Cessna 172, and Jodel D-112 (built in the club). Everyone is an amateur, no aviation professionals .From Chalais I flew with 3 friends to the north of Holland, Texel Airport. My greatest experience in aviation !

This airport is a single unsealed runway and is akin to landing & taking off from an aircraft carrier. eg: ~

Hi guys,

Think you need to check the field elevation on the pilot info page, unless the runway is underground,

I have a question for you in regards to this scam. When you paid for the actually certificate of ownership (so the person says) did you get an email from urpet. Ex sayin to pay for the money through western union? And then when you did so did you get an email saying when the flight would be taking off from cameroon and arriving at your destination

Airport

July 26th, 2011: Very friendly and helpful people. No tie down. Car gaz available between 13h and 14h30. General store. No motel. No restaurant.

re: Info on getting there

You should probably contact Scenic Airlines http://www.scenic.com/ as they seem to be the only company operating into this airport. They appear to be a tour company rather than a simple airline.

Picture of

Info on getting there

How can I get a list of flights and other information of incoming flights (so I can book a flight if possible) from Las Vegas, or Flagstaff? I travel from a larger city (Balt) that has direct connection to this airport.

Lovely Airstrip

Nice grass airstrip West of Toronto - relatively easy to find, clean approaches, well maintained. Look out for the unmarked power line parallel to the road when approaching from the East. A bunch of ultralights and homebuilts hidden in the hangars, and walls of soft, high corn surrounding the landing strip - in case you'd feel like rolling out. ;-)

Flight Ops

Land 26, take-off 08, avoid low flying over the falls.

A 'wide' right base for 26 will provide a good view of the falls without causing offence.

FORMER Brunswick Naval air station

Brunswick Naval air Station no longer exists. On April 02, 2011 the former NAS became a General Aviation airport named Brunswick Executive Airport BXM. Of the two 8000' runways only one is open for use: 1R and 19L. That is the runway to the East, nearest the tarmac. The FBO is located in the huge Hangar 6 at the North end of the runways.

skypig on Aldinga Airport

Arrived at Aldinga area, could not relate to traffic in the circuit as there where 3 runways being used at once.

Finally figured it and joined the circuit for 21. Nearly had a midair with a sports star who did no radio calls.

Aborted and went to Goolwa. Subsequent conversations with other pilots advise bad news in the circuit and dangerous.

Operators refuse to take heed and conduct low level circuits with no radio calls and I am reliably informed that situation is deteriorating.

Strong indications that operators do not want visiting aircraft as visiting pilots have been abused for no real reason.

Good people, good food. Head chef/taxi driver/new letter publisher, has a tendency to publicise a pilots landing β€˜transgressions’, tell them you are arriving 30 minutes later then planned! ;->
