re: Closed?
Yes, the airport closed in 1989. It was actually a well-known airport before that. I found the information in the French Wikipedia.
re: Closed?
I agree, Paul. The Great Circle Mapper also has this airport, at almost the same location:
http://gc.kls2.com/airport/LFPR
On the other hand, the 2008-06 ICAO Location Indicators doc no longer lists LFPR, so it looks pretty likely that it's closed. Can anyone confirm when the airport shut down? I've tagged it with my "fixme" tag for now, so that I'll remember to come back to it.
New airport
According to its web site, this is a brand new airport that opened in November 2008. It does not yet appear in the Google satellite imagery.
Closed?
It sure doesn't look like an airport in the satellite photo.
Runways?
Are those runways or helicopter taxiways?
ID?
I think this is one of those airports where the military operation and the civil operation have different ICAO codes - if you google it, you get about 50/50 split between LSTA and LSMN. The ICAO "LocationIdentifiersbystate.pdf" says that LSMN is the military one.
Blissville and Trans Canada Airlines
Here's an edited version of an article that I wrote about Blissville.
The Blissville Airport was built in the late 1930s as part of the Trans Canada Airways system. Airports and navigation systems were built approximately 100 miles (160kms) apart, covering Canada coast to coast, to facilitate air mail and eventually passenger traffic. It was located about 30 miles (50km) SW of Fredericton on a dusty gravel road and didnβt see the first scheduled TCA flight until May 10, 1941 a stop on the Montreal to Halifax route. Evidently it wasnβt too successful as the trial ended six weeks later on June 15.
On July 1, 1944 Blissville was again added to the TCA route, becoming a regional airport for SW New Brunswick, and this time it was promoted with direct cab service both to Fredericton and Saint John. The distance to Saint John was about 35-40 miles (50-60km) SE, halfway being on dirt roads. TCA pulled out of Blissville when the Airport at Pennfield Ridge was opened up to serve Saint John on April 1, 1947. The terminal/operations building was later disassembled and moved in sections to serve the same purpose at the new Fredericton Airport (YFC) until a new terminal was built there in 1963.
Over the last several decades, the Blissville Airport has been used by Forest Protection Ltd. as a base for fighting forest fires and conducting spraying operations. It is now located just inside the boundary of CFB Gagetown with a 4000 foot (1200m) paved runway and a Military Airport code β CCH3.
(adapted from article by George Brien that appeared in the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum Newsletter, Fall 2007)
If anyone interested, I have lots of info on TCA people that worked there in the mid 40's.

Nice Airport
I've been to Kane twice in the past two weeks (12/19/08 and 12/25/09-12/31/08). First time was for the day only in my 310 and the second time was in an Arrow. Both times I used Cirrus Flight Operations and both times I was very happy with the service I received as well as the prices for hangers and fuel. Paccair flies 310s out of Cirrus so I had an opportunity to discuss the finer points of the the old girl with freight dogs who have many more hours in them than me.
Calls for customs
There are calls for the airport to add customs services and accept international flights, so that passengers can fly directly to Chechnya, without having to pass through Moscow:
http://www.istockanalyst.com/article/viewiStockNews/articleid/2880035
Reopened in spring, 2007
This airport was in ruins after the Chechan war, but it was repaired after the fighting died down, and was reopened for scheduled service in spring 2007. There's still occasional violence in Chechnya, but airplanes no longer have to spiral down from directly above the airport to avoid rocket fire. Here's a story from fall 2007:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/11/world/europe/11chechyna.html?_r=1&ref=europe
re: Runway closed?
The airport was closed beginning 2006. Several country clubs will be builded in the 80 hectareas that were occupied by the airport. The first builded in 22 hectareas is named "Lagos del Norte".

AKA...
Seems to also been known as SENL and Lago Agrio airport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lago_Agrio_Airport)
ID?
I don't believe SJXC is an ICAO id - ICAO ids for Brazil start with SB??. In DAFIF, it's SB56.
ID?
DAFIF and ICAO document lists this as SBFT.
ID?
Was SV77 in DAFIF, is SVAE in http://www.volarenvenezuela.com/vev/modules.php?name=News&file=print&sid=376
re: ID?
However, it does appear to be listed as SVPF on this Venezuelan site:
http://www.volarenvenezuela.com/vev/modules.php?name=News&file=print&sid=389
ID?
SVPF isn't listed in http://www.icao.int/anb/aig/Taxonomy/R4CDLocationIndicatorsbystate.pdf
In DAFIF, this was SV03.
ID?
SVQL isn't listed in the ICAO http://www.icao.int/anb/aig/Taxonomy/R4CDLocationIndicatorsbystate.pdf list of ICAO ids by state. It's SV76 in DAFIF, and some on-line sites agree with that, but they might be getting it from DAFIF.
It appears...
I can't find anything definitive yet, but it appears that Roosevelt Road Naval Air Station closed a few years ago, and Jose Aponte De La Torre Airport opened on the same site quite recently.
Closed
This Airport is now closed.. Permenently..
For redevelopment.
Info
Nice airport. I have flown there several times with our friend in a Fournier RF5.
Went to the north (Cherbourg ) and the south ( Le Mont Saint Michel ).
Used for holiday traffic from Yersey (GB ) and internal from france.
Also 4 motor hanggliders for tourists.
Wrong ID?
The FAA has "93TX" as a heliport in Fort Worth.
Wrong ID?
This isn't the NJ77 in the FAA data - that one is "Warren County Public Safety Department".
Other id?
This airport was "WA1A" in DAFIF.

re: ID mixup?
This one is the rightful owner of the SYWI ICAO code, so I've updated both airports.
re: Wrong ID?
OK, I've merged them both into the more likely one -- thanks.
re: Wrong ID?
I've removed the id, and will probably delete this soon: I generally include helipads at an airport only when they're assigned a separate code (otherwise, they're just POIs).
re: I think the coordinates are wrong
Actually, don't worry -- I merged this into the proper SLMG airport.
re: Wrong place
This is the right airport for the codes, according to the ICAO pub. The lat/lon had somehow been rounded off to full degrees, so I fixed those.
re: I think the coordinates are wrong
Yes, a lot of the S.A. stuff is questionable, even when it was taken from official government sources. What was your source, Paul? If it's at all credible, please feel free to edit the airport.
Wrong ID?
I think the airport should get the ICAO id WPDL, not this one.
Wrong ID?
There are two SVPB "Punta Brava" airports on this site, and I think this one is wrong.
ID mixup?
Why does this have a URL of SYWI, but an GPS id of SYPR? There is a different airport with an ICAO id of SYWI (GF-0001).
re: Dup?
Thanks, Paul. I've confirmed that in the ICAO pub and removed the code from this airport. It does not seem to have an ICAO code (at least not under this name).
I think the coordinates are wrong
From another datasource, I got the longitude as -64.0619444444444, and that actually looks like an airport there.
Wrong place
This is one of several "SLMG" here, and it's definitely in the wrong place.
Dup?
There are two airports with the ICAO ID "AYBK" - this one and Buka Airport. DAFIF says that the other one is the correct owner of AYBK.
Data problem
This airport doesn't exist in the FAA data (although there is an airport either right here, or very nearby, called Hill Top, with the id "JY43". Plus, there is a different airport with the id "3NJ9" called "Allen Airstrip".
Kuwait's Naval Base
This heliport is part of the Kuwaiti Navy's only significant base, which was also a major staging area for U.S. forces during the invasion of Iraq.
re: Hmmm
I'm reluctant about merging heliports with each-other, since they can sometimes be very close (especially in Urban areas), and these two have different names. I'll keep an eye open for more info.
Hmmm
I added this one from FAA data, and it appears to be in exactly the same point as O01, which is not in the FAA data. They should probably be merged.
Not in FAA data
Not in the FAA data set, but it's obviously there in the satellite picture.
FAA again
The FAA says that this is an airport, not a heliport, with both a 3100x60 turf runway 09/27, and a 50x50 turf helipad.
re: Weird
Well, it definitely looks like an airstrip in the satellite photo. I wonder where that site got the information, if not from the FAA?
re: There are two "SKAN" airports.
Merged -- thanks, Paul.
re: Weird
Here's some info about Putz Airport: http://airports.aircraftdata.net/airport/24369_01-A/PUTZ.aspx
re: Weird
Thanks, Paul. I've removed the airport codes for now, since they're probably not official.

According to the Wikipedia article they are, in fact, runways.
