re: Upgradation of Faisalabad Airport

The government has realized late that there should be international flights operation from Faisalabad. Still a lot of has to do for the advancement of the airport. Apart from the airport, government should think of building more parks, recreation centers, medical centers, sanitation, disposal of garbagge, water and above all, establishment of High Court Bench, which is very important. It is shameful that third biggest city of Pakistan has no high court bench.

Very low Landing fees, for further information check the AIP or contact the local aeroclub

Medium airport and need flight

Guna airport is a good travel option for businessmen. The city has many industries present in and around it. It should have an airport as one has to travel to bhopal to catch a flight.

re: Shuttle/Taxi/Limo Ground Transportation

On 4/14/16 I caught the yellow cab vehicle #494. I informed the driver that I come here often for work. Please do not try to scam me. That is the history of yellow cab and my experience at this airport. What usually cost me $50. Was already close to $70 and we still were not there. I went on the north side where all you have to do is get on the freeway and it takes me straight to my job. Usually get there in 20 to 25 minutes. He did all this extra driving around the entire airport. He went through the mountain which I have never been through in over a year that I have been coming here. This guy is a rip off. I did not allow him to rip me off. But I am sure he has done it to other. I called discount cab to return to the airport. It was a pleasant trip. I feel we should have a selection on which cab we want to use. Yellow cab drivers are a rip off. I will never get in his cab again.

Refueling Stop, 1966

Flying from Ca. to Clark Air Base, USAF. Stopped here about 11 PM. All passengers, (maybe two dozen) went to the beach and played with sand crabs. A messhall opened and made sandwiches for the whole flight. No memory of where we slept but the plane took off before daybreak. The sky was beautiful that night.

Travellers

I have an invitation from International campany and they issue a visa for me, hotel, round trip ticket for training to their company, but its sad to say the IOs refused my flight. I was ofloaded for no reason. Imagine the company said to me, they have a lot of filipino workers and the Philippines Immigration they didn't allow or honor the Invitation of the biggest company. ashame Philippines! Who are you Philippines! we try to help your people to have a job but Philippines refused! Now Im thinking The Naia Airport now is one of the biggest sindicate In the Philippines! they asking for money. Where is the justice there. too many hassle. no any reason they argue to my documents. Government please put on eye this Airport. shame on Philippines!

Nice place!

Nice field and great people! There is an RAA bbq there in early June this year.

Picture of

No longer there

This airstrip no longer exists. The area is now being developed as an industrial park similar to that immediately to the east.

Picture of

what do you mean

Well I live around that area and I've never seen a helicopter land there or even park there, I don't think there's a landing area.

Snow Runway

Research facility, wait that should be "facility" as it's pretty basic for core drilling only and not much else out there. Runway is visible past the peaks and since drilling is done in summer there is lots of light to see by.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Excellent dives

Small island that's mostly a national park, a bit pricey to get to and stay at although you can charter a flight from Cape Flattery or cheaper and better to get a boat to take you out and prearrange a time/date for them to pick you up too. The Lizard Island resort does have charter boats you can use or try to get on with a scientific crew going to the research station on the island.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Supply for village

Small northern Helipad in open area that services approx 50 residents in the area. Doctor available for call outs to passing ferry and drill platforms in the area if weather permits and Alseund or Unst are unavailable.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Decommissioned 2004 but still standing

Elf Aquitaine/Total SA owned and operated until October 2004. Still there hauntingly empty and covered in seagulls. Plans to have it sunk have yet to happen same with Frigg DP2 and others in the area but could affect current drilling platforms nearby so will likely will fall on their own or scavenged for parts.

Close to town

Small strip for charters, no regular commercial service. Locals will sell you food and drink just off the property and I met my future wife here.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Okavango, Chobe, Moremi and Makgadikgadi access

Good international airport to access the best Botswana game preserves and wetlands. Lots of charters fly out every day, strip is well maintained and tower control is impressive as clouds and mist can roll in dawn and dusk but doesn't seem to matter as long as the pilots have the cohones to do so :)

Picture of jwatsontravel

Easy flights if it's not raining

Flying from Port McQuarrie to Lord Howe Island for r&r/diving and encountered a large rain storm that came down in buckets. Had to circle for about an hour before tower advised it was okay to land. Still was certain we were going to skid off the end of the runway and into the ocean but we made it safe and the pilot shook everyones hand afterward (all 6 of us).

Picture of jwatsontravel

Hobby

I believe this is a hobby strip, literally packed earth and it's on private land so no public access.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Basic but good

Didn't fly in or out of here as we drove in to visit friends in the area but went to the airport to pick up some cargo. Fun town with some great bars but the locals can get rowdy so be aware and leave quickly if you must.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Love this airport every time

Been on international flights landing here on 6 occasions and domestic flights over 20 times in the past. Never had any issues with customs, finding information or connection times (when relevant). Easy to get around, customs is friendly and helpful and of course you are in Oz so things just feel better. Taxi lines can be crazy sometimes when hundreds of people get out at the same time but no major issues.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Charter flights

Flew in to Nord on a charter flight in the summer of 2003, the landing strip was well kept in the frozen land and even in summer it was quite cold there. Research and military personnel, no sun from mid-Nov to end of January, charters have to fly in daylight, military I heard was allowed to fly in at night..

Picture of jwatsontravel

Tourist landing area in summer

Was part of an Antarctic research vessel/cruise that allowed guests to walk around the area for a few hours and observe the thousands of Gentoo penguins there. A waterplane was observed coming in as we departed that evening, very easy to see, access and was a lot warmer that I had anticipated.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Practical but very close to town

Flying in to Kornasoren with Merpati Nusantara Airlines you think you will be hitting the trees or dropping into the water but it comes up and easy touchdown and take offs. The town is built around it basically so you can walk out of the "airport" and right on to the main street or the beach. Lots of commercial fishing in the area so some big boats off the shores, careful of sharks at dusk when the fishing ships drop their waste.

Picture of jwatsontravel

By Boat from Noemfoor

To get to Kamiri I was able to fly into Kornasoren/Noemfoor and convinced a local fishing guide to take me around the island where we landed at Kamiri and Namber and we overnighted on the boat. Exploring the sites for WWII historical reasons, there is a road around the island but slow going especially in rainy season so by boat was better and faster. Walk up the beach and through some dense bush to get to the former strip, people living in huts and tree-houses in the area living off the land, very quiet and serene there.

Fishing village on the south coast from Namber (Rawisidori) was very friendly but only local dialect spoken but friendly and good cooks if you like fish.

Clear for miles

Flying in with Garuda from Makassar a number of years back not a cloud in sight, easy approach. Great airport, easy to get around (7 gates) and taxis to town are cheap.

Picture of jwatsontravel

Built by my grandfather

My grandfather was part of the battalion that built this strip as well as others in the area during WWII. I went out there by boat about 10 years ago from Biak Island, some bold pilots say you can still land there but it is not maintained in any way so the chances of hitting something are high. Beautiful island, deserted except for some fishermen who beach their boats during the day or camp overnight and lots of bats..
