Great little airport with plenty of action

Grenchen Airport is perfect for learning to fly, has hard surface and grass runway 07 / 25.

There are many nice special events, like the helicopter-weekend, and the modelaircraft show, besides parajumping and glider activities.

Or, take a scenic ride in a vintage Antonov AN-2, the largest biplane ever produced (which is stationed there) to the beautiful swiss alps and back, always a wonderful experience. Space for up to 12 passengers, flown by two pilots. See: http://www.avschweiz.ch/

The airport also has a Best Western Hotel & restaurant.

Is fuel available either at Sandown or Bembridge?

As a light aircraft pilot considering a trip to Gronholt it would have been useful to know whether 100LL is available. An indication of landing fees would also have been helpful.

That said, thanks for the info.

Banease airport

it got better in the last year, the service is better and people are more helpful.

Great little airport

I was there as a visitor a couple years ago, it's the home of a DeHavilland Tiger Moth, a Broussard, and other interesting aircraft. In summer, parajumpers are getting their ride in a Pilatus Porter, this is the perfect airfield for it (grass runway)

It's a real homey place, has very friendly staff and you can also get BBQ food there and just enjoy the activities from the garden restaurant.

Has a webcam too, just Google for it.

re: Leopoldsburg

Reply to @Jan_Olieslagers: Eurocontrol refers to it as "Leopoldsburg/Beverlo", although some websites refer to it as "Aeroclub Sanicole VZW". I don't know what to call it.

Picture of Jan_Olieslagers

Yutz field closed

Sadly closed in 2013. Local pilots hope to create an ULM runway one day.

Picture of Jan_Olieslagers

Leopoldsburg

Agreeing with the comment by FvH, I changed the name. Though formally a military field, this place is only rarely used by the Air Force, but sees lively recreational flying on weekends and holidays.

Picture of Jan_Olieslagers

re: Any information??

Apologies for my previous comment (mr admin, could you remove it?)

EBCS Saint Remy appears to be alive and kicking, but it is indeed an ULM-only field. And for an ULM-field, it is not that bad:

06 / 24 Gras 200 m x 50 m โ€“ 060ยฐ / 240ยฐ - Beschikbare lengte :312 m

15 / 33 Gras 350 m x 50 m - 150ยฐ / 330ยฐ - Beschikbare lengte : 396 m

( info from the "ULIP" on www.fed-ulm.be )

Very little accomodation, though: no workshop, no resto, no bar, fuel and oil only on request.

Headquarters of Airbus in Germany

Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) is part of Airbus' Hamburg headquarters in Germany and its major commercial aircraft manufacturing plant (the third largest in the world after Seattle/Everett (USA) and Toulouse (France). Here some 15,000 people are employed. Airbus Hamburg plays a decisive role in the development and engineering of all Airbus aircraft. It is responsible for the final assembly of the A318, A319, A320 and A321.

In addition, all A380s are fitted here with their cabin interiors and painted for final delivery. Hamburg Finkenwerder is also home to Airbusโ€™ A380 major component assembly hall, which houses the structural assembly and the fitting-with equipment of the forward and complete rear fuselage sections for this new-generation aircraft. Final acceptance and delivery of all A380s for customers in Europe and the Middle East take place here.

This Airbus facilityโ€™s years of manufacturing experience enhance fuselage structural assembly and systems installation. It produces complete fuselage sections for the A380, which are shipped to France on a specially-built roll-on/roll-off ferry.

Hamburg also plays a key role in the A330 and A350 XWB programmes, for which it manufactures and equips the forward and rear fuselage sections.

Other key activities in Hamburg include Airbus' largest spares centre - adjacent to Hamburg Airport (HAM) โ€“ which holds some 120,000 proprietary parts for customers from around the world, and A320 Family maintenance training facilities and procurement.

Sometimes, they use this 4-letter code, structured as an ICAO code, though it has not been officially recognized, AFAIK.
