Beja Airport
Check out this web site link - http://buypropertyalgarve.wordpress.com/2009/11/27/beja-airport-ready-to-open-in-2010/ it sounds like Beja may be opening early 2010
Beja Airport
I can't wait for Beja airport to open - we have friends in Ferreira Do Alentejo so it will save them having to drive the almost 2 hr journey to collect us from Lisbon or Faro.
The (only) Airport in Western Greece during winter
Corfu (Kerkyra) is one of the few Greek airports with normal working hours during the winter (see http://www.ypa.gr/content/index.asp?tid=247&lang=2 - some airports are open only on some days, some are open for only an hour in the evening, etc).
The arrival and stay in Corfu was pleasant. I assume that during the high season the airport may be quite busy.
An important advice: have the AOPA membership card or some proof that you are a flying-club member with you. With proof of club membership, the landing fee is symbolic (some 4 EUR) and you get a hefty discount on handling (some 15-20 EUR). It is rumored that Greeks are trying hard to invite GA guests to their nice places and these discounts are part of this campaign. We can only applaud this attitude and wish other countries would do the same.
Altogether the experience was very nice, although the Greek way (everything can be solved, sometimes a bit slow). ARO is the tower: they were very friendly and helpful in planning and arranging the flight through Greek airspace.
For a 100$ hamburger type of stay (in reality it is a 600 EUR Greek dinner), there is quite a decent Hotel Bretagne 5 minutes walk from the airport and another 15 minutes walk from the city centre.
Nice but expensive
The airport itself is very nice (I was told it was recently rebuilt by a German company and they hold a concession for twenty years to operate it).
All the staff was very friendly. It took the gasoline truck an hour to come to us (yes, they have AvGas 100LL), the ARO was friendly, but a bit clumsy. The main objection is the price: 95 EUR for 600kg MTOW, no PAX.
A prior landing permission is needed. In principle it takes 24h to get it (we got it overnight). Contact is Mr. Vrioni (mobile) +355 682 151 493, (fixed) +355 42 343 487.
re: Beja airport
If you want to go to the algarve then you would use the airport at Faro. If like me you have a caravan in Ferreira Do Alentejo Beja will be perfect. So i think it is in the right place, when it opens.
re: Beja airport
Reply to @david: I'm hoping to use this airport if it ever opens as I have relatives nearby and it will save me loads of hassle and expense of getting to Beja from Faro airport.
re: Beja airport
Does that mean that the airport is actually open to airline service now? The last news I saw (2 November) still mentioned the opening in the future, and the Portuguese-language website still says it's in the last phase of construction (at least, as far as my limited Portuguese skills go -- too lazy to use Google Translate for a language so similar to Spanish).
Beja airport
I went there on the 18 November 09, this airport will not work for holidaymakers that want to travel to the algarve, too far, 10 Euro toll, in the middle of nowhere, what person thought of this airport?
WRONG PLACE.....
Only Albanian airport with scheduled service (?)
It looks like TIA may still be the only airport in the whole country with scheduled airline service, though there have been efforts to upgrade KukΓ«s (LAKU) and GjirokastΓ«r to handle scheduled service as well. The Italian government was helping with GjirokastΓ«r at one point.
Airport status?
This was intended to be Albania's second airport with scheduled civil airline service, but some of the comments suggest that things aren't quite working out. Here's Google Translate's (not so great) attempt at translating the Albanian-language comments below (oldest to newest):
"Kukes": do not understand why it is not a airoport such work but should be left at the mercy of fate is all north of Albania who can use ......
"uran uka" (uranium boom): The ndertojete airport in Kukes is a good thing ......................................... .............
"Mendimet e mija" (My thoughts): S SOPI GOSTIL
A Arirport so good and beautiful, especially at night by colored lights, and vihvet not at work, there is something good by the state, who have need for this aireport all Albanians of the north and Kosovo .... ...........
"eshte nje nevoj njerezore" (is a human need): would be better that these comments that we are giving, go to the right ear because this is a national loss but also the first time is a precise mosvleresim Albanian government in the management of this airporti. would be a great help for the area of the northern and south western Kosovo wide. and a fact that is very real in economine Albanian, would have enabled many families and help areas for about employing their relatives.
eshte nje nevoj njerezore
Beja Airport
Took a drive by last week, not open yet. Does not look like it will be very soon either.

YouTube landing at Treb
First flight to Treb
Flew a 172 D-EVOC from the Fly-in-Spain crew to Trebujena Airfield on 28.10.09. It's the maintenance facility for Fly-in-Spain so lots of short hops from Jerez LEJR to Treb.
Gliders
I got my private pilot license with glider rating in 1974 at this airport in Austria after serving with the US Army in Berlin. Flew with a world champion named Haro Woedl. Great memories!

FlorΓΈ airport is the westernmost airport in Norway, with the North Sea to the west, fjords and mountains to the east, and the beautiful North Sea coast to the north and south. It is a 20 minute walk to the city center, or five minutes by cab. FlorΓΈ was founded in 1860 and will celebrate 150 years in 2010.
Beware of strong wind along the coast, including the airport. Remember to check METAR and TAF before departure. Also note that as since october 1. 2009 the airport do not have 100LL fuel. You may get 100LL from the local flying club at ENBL (FΓΈrde, Bringeland) 23nm to the ESE. The tower at ENBL will help you get in touch with the club.

I guess the US finally did something, where were they in June 1953 when we were totally cut off from West Berlin for about ten weeks when the Russians marched in during the East German uprising. It wasn't great to be treated as animals thereafter either nor hearing East Germans being shot by Russians soldiers either. May they rest in Peace.

re: Landed in Craiova
Reply to @robert: at EUR 130, that's actually more expensive than landing at Toronto's Pearson Airport (CYYZ)! When they set a landing fee that high, it's really a "keep out!" sign.
re: Closed
Reply to @robert: changed LZVB status to 'closed'. Thanks.

Reply to @robert: Updated -- thanks.
Closed
By information from LRCV opertions manager (and by info from Jepessen VFR charts) this airport is closed for several years now.
Closed
Planned to go there (aug 2009) but ATC said it is closed for more than a year.
Landed in Craiova
After spending almost a year clearing formalities regarding flight approval to Romania (my plane has only permit to fly not airworthiness certificate) I finaly landed there. All OK, but the landing fee of EUR 130 for a 600kg MTOW airplane is outrageously expensive. No fuel, (virtually) no ARO - they advised me to submit the flight plan at least 3 hours before flight (I did it over phone to LJLJ ARO one four before), ...
Otherwise quite pleasant and friendly (and empty - guess why).

re: When does it open
According the the Italian Wikipedia article, the airport has been open since the 1920s, and expanded its runway in April 2009 to handle jets like the B737 and A320. Current scheduled service is to Verona only.
re: When does it open
Airports don't fly anywhere. They just sit there and let the planes come to them.
Pontecagnano Airpor
I am given to understand it opened in mid 2008 and closed soon after is this still the case?
When does it open
Is the airport open and where does it fly to?
First Solo!!
Did my first sole here a looong time ago! Note the shortness of the strip which makes it good for training.
Former airbase
According to the Wikipedia article, this was once a Soviet airbase. The Estonian military left in 2001, and since then, it's been used for driver training and by some motorized paragliders and ultralights. The runway is in very bad shape.
Landing permission
It is not permitted to use Rena for civil air traffic except in emergencies.
Pilot Controlled Lights
Transmit on 123.5 for 5 seconds. Lights turn off after 12 minutes.
Spectacular approach!
The approach is an offset localizer with curved approach lights, down into a fjord. Interesting missed approach and departure procedure too. The scenery is unbelievably beautiful. Efficient service from the airport staff, reasonable Avgas price for Europe.
Information
Joint Civ/Mil airport. Civilian part is the small apron on west side of runway.
Currently served by Air Norway twice a day.
Airline service
According to Wikipedia this strip is served by Yakutia- and Polar Airlines
re: Closed?
Reply to @Jan: Thanks for the help. I've changed the status to closed.
re: Closed?
Several signs...Look close and you'll see markings on the asphalt on the west side near the yellow boxes. There is a fence/wall covering most of the old runway. And it appears they have made a go cart track on the old apron.
re: Open?
Yes, Logovushka Airfield, used by Kurgan Aviation club. Updated.
Open?
Seems its used for GA. Maybe for parachuting?
No longer an air base though so maybe change name?
re: Closed
Thanks -- I've updated the status.
re: Abandoned
Thanks -- I've changed the status.
