Sorry we missed your post, there is no licensed aviation mechanic at the club but there are a lot of knowledgeable people that can answer your questions and show you around.
The nearest airports with certified mechanics with a service shop are Hamilton International, Burlington Airpark and York Airfield

re: luggage inspection
They can go through it after you pick it up because you don't go through customs until you have your luggage in hand. I have gone through customs there many times and have never had my luggage checked. Maybe you looked a little suspecious to them. Illegal drugs are not allowed in the country; there not allower in the Us and Canadas either. You will be arrested.

I wrote to the FAA about the fact that they still have this listed as CNB9, and they wrote me back asking exactly when it changed. The person asking said "I need this information to track down in what AIRAC Canada publication it was modified for FAA's history file and as an authorized source to update of FAA (NASR) data base." Anybody here know when it changed?

FYI, you cannot park your plane here. If you need to drop passengers off, you will need to relocate down to Hewanorra to park. And it takes almost 2 hours to drive up to the north end of the island from Hewanorra. Get a taxi, do not attempt to drive yourself, unless you want to die young! And make sure you get a clearance before you start engines.

YSN is the identifier for St. Catherines airport in Ontario (near Niagara Falls).
CDK - Cekar Key - FL
Still a challenging little strip with sea breezes. Town of Cedar key (shops, eateries, etc) is a bit depressed for past few years.
KSGJ - St Augustine Airport - FL
Nice Airport along Florida's East Coast - Florida Flyers very helpful with local flying information, tips. Enjoyed a coast line sightsee - views are fantastic.
KGNV - Gainesville - FL
An easy to locate airport, NE of City, North tip of Newnans Lake. Friendly controllers. Was able to use an available hanger over holidays free of charge (did buy fuel though).
BC Airlines float base on Powell Lake 1957-58
Maurie Mercer was BC Airlines base pilot on Powell Lake in 1958 when I was working for Bill Gaston at the little Shell station there. Mauie gave me my first airplane ride. It was a Cessna 170.. Sticky Fingers! (Sky Harbor Airport)
Sky Harbor is a good and nice Airport, but one thing is don't leave anything behind! I forgot something that was about $200 on a chair at one of the gates...My plan was the last one to land and they were closing it all down for the night since it closed at 1am! My plan landed at 12:30 and I didn't get off till 12:50. I was the last one on the plane to get off. When walking to get my bag the only one behind me was the guy at the ticket stand and some cleaning people! I notice I left my tablet and went back after only 15 mins later and of course it was gone within 15mins! I called the lost and found and of course no one turned it in....I'm sorry but I think someone from the airport that works there took it...I don't care if they tell me no one from there took it *lies*

Fly-in Fish Boil
The Lion's Club of Washington, Island holds an annual fly-in fish boil in the summer (usually, July, I think). It is a novelty, and a great event. If the wx is good, the attendance is usually excellent. BE CAUTIOUS about traffic! The event draws many people who arrive other than by air, so it is a pretty big event. Get there early, so they don't run out of food. It's excellent. What wouldn't taste great if they poured a ladle full of melted butter over it?!? Get the details online, via Google. It's worth the flight, and a neat experience.

Hidden Lake Airport community
The most friendly community of pilots on earth. Marcelle, for example is an exemplary neighbor, pilot, mentor and a fine human being. Everyone cares for everyone else and the place is like paradise on earth with abundant natural beauty and a great runway with facilities. All roads/taxiways are well maintained. IT IS UNIQUE. Easy international connection
Nice, easy connection here in mid November -- I had only an hour to connect from an inbound Montreal flight to an outbound Bogotá flight, but I was able to stay in the international terminal without going out and back in through security, like at some other airports.

If you are flying on Air Canada, they use Terminal 1. If you are flying on Westjet, they use Terminal 3. Other airline's information can be found under the Pilot Info tab and/or visiting the airport webpage.

I've only been to CYHM for touch and go's, but flew through their airspace and near it quite frequently while going to Niagara area and back - day and night, winter and summer.
Airport itself is large, way too much than average GA pilot may ever need - and located in a strategically excellent spot. Easy to find, and though there is a lot (as in - a lot!) of through and local traffic, never a problem to deal with thanks to an excellent, very professional ATC. Thanks guys, you set the standards in my books! Few controlled airspaces I've been to are as friendly and comfortable to deal with.
