re: Not open to public
Reply to @david: IT ISN'T USUALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC BUT WITH SPECIAL PERMISSION YOU CAN LAND THERE!
Awesome Airport!
THIS AIRPORT IS VERY COOL WITH 6 RUNWAYS AND A COOL LAYOUT AND IT IS A COOL CHALLENGE TO LAND BECAUSE OF SO MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF AIRCRAFT!
10 OUT OF 10!
flying
I started flying there in the 70s, best experience at the time.
Is Laurentide Aviation still around?
Amazing Approach
Saw whales breaching during my descent into Kona! The ocean was sparkling and it was a clear day!
Oh My God, the fish!
I was there yesterday (July 3/11). No real terminal and no staff for fuel. Call ahead or make sure you have enough for a return trip. When you get there, there is a little box attached to the 'terminal' with the guest book. Inside this box is the phone number for Herberts fish & chips. They will gladly come pick you up and drop you off! There are 2 towers on the NW side of the field and a smaller one on the South side to be aware of. This is kind of remote so a walk into town is necessary or arrange something with this fish and chip guys or the local outfitters. And Lord Thundering Jesus the fish! The best fish and chips ever! Yesterday they had fresh whitefish that they catch themselves. They are a fresh fish market that also batters and fries them so you know you are getting the freshest and the best.
5 Stars
Can't complain about anything at John Wayne Airport. It's relatively small and it's extremely easy to navigate through the terminal. Friendly personnel as well.
Unique
I love this airport. Nice facilities all around and unique artwork throughout the terminals makes DEN a worth-while experience.
Nice Airport
Open-style terminal building is really cool and highlights the tropical experience you'll have in the Caribbean.
Easy to and Through
Dayton Intl. Airport truly lives up to it's motto: "Easy to and through".
Hassle Free
For a large airport, this one is easy to get in and out of and I'm proud to call it my home airport. I've never had any problems at DFW.
Great place to learn to fly!
Next time you're in the area, look up Mr. Howard Deevers, a living legend in his own 50 years of aviation. Ask him how "Doc" is doing these days... you might even get him to show you how to fly, sign off on your certificate, take a look at your engine, or help you get your next rating. It's one-stop shopping with this incredible guy!
Floatplanes!
This airport is a busy floatplane hub with specialized hydroplane flying school on site. Lots of them are flying in the vicinity, and landplanes are a secondary activity at Orilla. Runway is ok, though quite beaten and with a pronounced slope westwards. Taxiways are all gravel - careful with your prop! FBO is very well maintained, there is a little snack house with cute patio, and overall Orilla looks like a busy and interesting place to visit - apart from the beautiful water scenery.
No go place
This airport looks like it was closed but the crosses were not painted on the runway ends. Asphalt is all cracked with grass growing through, there are pits and humps all around, and only central part of the airport maneuvering surfaces is more or less usable.
Funny approach to 25 - on short final you almost clip the houses, overflying their backyards quite tightly. There is a pronounced upslope on the first quarter of 25, and overall 07 looks like a safer choice, wind permitting.
There is a bunch of little airstrips and a decent corporate airport close to Barrie, so unless you wish to seriously punish your landing gear - no need to go Springwater.
grass strip
nice strip operated since 1969 by same owner RET. NAVY/US Air
BCATP
What a terrible shame that there is no memorial to the thousands of service personnel who trained under the BCATP in the early years of WW11 at this airport.
Harbour Air Services
The FBO, Harbour Air Services, does a great job.

re: your data on EKS is out dated see information for Ennis
Thanks for pointing that out. The correct information has been updated.
Aircraft Rental
Recommend Tropicbird Flight School if you are wanting to rent an aircraft while on the Big Island. They have great aircraft including a 182; a G1000 172 and Diamond 120. Call Mike or Ashley to reserve an aircraft. Spectacular island flying!
Graet Views Tough Landings
This little airport on the very northwest tip of the big island is probably one of the most challenging landings in Hawaii. Expect a lot of turbulence on approach. A wind farm is adjacent to the airport -- go figure why they built an airport here... No based aircraft or fuel. Enjoy!
Local Food Nearby
Get place to eat just a mile away from the airport -- Seaside Restaurant; on Kalanianaole Ave. Great seafood, a local favorite.

Quality of Excellence
Landed at Shepherd's Landing many times since the opening in 1997. Owner Garry Shepherd always has the grass well manicured, has beer in the fridge, steak on the barbie, and a smile on his face. 5 mins to the beach and bikinis. Cubs, Christavia,RVs,Cessnas,Pipers and a real nice Comanche 250 based on the field. Please call ahead before landing in case we are on the beach chasing bikinis.
FBO
Fantastic service and security!!!
Nice place!
Cute little airport, very well maintained and easy to find. Rather busy local traffic - lots of planes in the nearby Claremont training area and next to the lake Scugog - so keep listening (and advising) on the 122.9 before getting close to Lindsay. It is also a popular destination for the local "100$ hamburger" cross-countries, check out their restaurant next to the FBO! :-)
Sheridan Lake
Anybody know anything about this private unregistered strip? If functional, it would be a nice way to get to nearby recreational properties.
Stuart Island
Private airport with 2100' paved runway. I've seen this from the air and it is not registered or in the CFS.
I'LL BE BACK

Two Tower Frequencies
There are two tower frequencies that should be noted. The east runway (31R/13L) is on 118.3. This is the frequency that should be used when departing this runway, or arriving from 0 to 179 degrees magnetic. The The west runway (31L/13R) is on 120.6. This is the frequency that should be used when departing this runway, or arriving from 180 to 359 degrees magnetic.
Arrester cables at CYBG
Watch out for arrester cables about 1500 from the tresholds, used for fighter jets. Even when they are lowered they are not something you want to roll over at high speed, especially with light GA aircraft. There are orange markers on each side of the runway at the cable positions.
There is a 20$ passenger fee but the terminal has free wifi and a reasonably cheap restaurant.
re: First Solo out of Trinca!
Reply to @Steve: Don't know what magic you are talking about.
re: Not for me...
The guy they have managing that place hates you and the world. He gets an attitude with just about everyone who stops in. If he hates people so much, why is he the manager of anything? What a bunch of sh*t. Doesn't belong in a public position with that attitude. Find out who owns the airport and file a complaint!
Great field
I was there yesterday. Great field. Caution of the wires off the north end.
