Food
Great restaurant!
Not as scary as you might think.
Great place to rent a car (or borrow) to drive to Fisherman's Wharf.
Excellent Place to Go
One of my all-time favorite airports, and often the first place my wife wants to go. Friendly people, including the guy who sells biplane rides and has a mini museum in his hangar; plus the folks who do the sky-diving. A wide variety of planes fly in here, so there are usually some interesting birds to look at. Also feathered type birds at the great park and pond across the street from the airport. The city bus stops there if you'd like a ride into Pismo Beach where there are lots of tourist attractions. But a couple of blocks stroll in either direction on that street will take you to restaurants and other interesting things to see & do. As you can tell, there are big sand dunes next to the airport. Vehicles are allowed on the beach, yet there are plenty of quiet places for sand and surf. One word of caution: watch out for fog and low clouds that can come in fairly quickly, but if you stay aware there's generally plenty of time to get airborne before weather changes.
Great Airport
Good fuel prices, walk to Santa Ynez, and if you want to wait there's a number to call for a free ride to the Chumash native casino (big white building complex at an angle off the West end of the runway).
Density altitude
I got checked out here last week. It was only 80F and the density altitude was already above 9000 ft! It took most of the lake to fly a pattern - be careful on warm days!
It is completely worth it if you're careful. Beautiful, and you're right in the middle of town.
I live there
My great grandfather earl mosier made it for an airport and eventually we moved in and he stopped flying in and out of it but it is now closed down because my family the bertoldi a currently live there and my mother Cindy mosier is his grand daughter. Just thought somebody would want to here some interesting family history of this airport,my house.
San Carlos Airport
Flown in several times during flight training. Now San Carlos has a well stocked aviation supply shop, San Carlos Aviation & Supply. They have a fully packed shop and what they don't have Hans will get for you.
Susanville Airport
Landed here early 2013 on an Angel Flight from KPAO. Nice runway, pretty mountanious scenery in and out. FBO (Susanville Aviation) was very helpful and had fuel and oil for us.
Very friendly line service people at Jet Center
Was there very late at night, and even though they were closing up all the staff was very friendly and helpful
Hard to find
Recommend using on-field VOR to get there, otherwise hard to find
Fence locations
I'd like to see where the fences are, I understand that is the only real hazard. lol
Cafe
Great cafe on this airport. Friendly personnel. Lots of hangar folks to visit too.
Camping
There is a great camp ground across the street from the airport. No access to the lake within walking distance of the airport.
Don't go swimming
If heading North, Depart over the lake, turn east and head for Reno. Once across the ridge, turn north and parallel the ridge . More emergency landing options this way. Better than going swimming. This lake is deep and cold!

Food
The only food available on the field now is from a vending machine. Restaurant closed. No transportation to town. Must phone rental car.
Not much to report
I was here! That's about all there is to say. :)
re: Zunigas
Reply to @CaptBobCPA: Unfortunately, Zunigas closed.
A great place for the option!
taking off, landing, failing the landing, go around, and just keep trying! =)
Food
Food and hotels within walking distance. I saw no active business on the field other than a card lock fuel station.
Visit Rialto....while it is still there.
The city is still trying to close the airport to build yet another idiotic strip mall....that nobody wants or needs. For now thankfully the project is "underwater" because property values are only 1/3 of what the builder Louis Homes needs to just break even.
Aviating at Rialto:
If you like testing your crosswind skills L67 is the prime destination for it when the Santa Ana winds are blowing. If they get too much for you there is always rwy 35 to get you safely on the ground.
Fuel and pilot supplies are available at Art Scholl Aviation.
Fullerton A/P
Fullerton is a great all around GA A/P. No real traffic problems and when you get on the ground facilities are excellent
Winter home of the Blue Angels
This is where the boys play and practice for their upcoming season at the beginning of each year. With lots of wide open desert near by they have the perfect playground to practice and hone their skills, day after day. Hat's off to the Blue's!
Busy little airport
Commercially speaking, this can be one busy single-runway airport, near downtown San Diego. This is a well known airport for it's approach to 27, as there is a car parking structure that the aircraft have to clear within about the last 1/4 mile before the threshold. The glideslope seems a bit higher because of this when compared to other airports. It has a cramped feeling as you get to your gate area, compared to the the spacious baggage area. It's not all bad, as they do have a Starbucks at least! ;)
Right in the middle of Orange County
Whether it's for business or leisure, KSNA is the perfect spot for the airport. The main terminal is currently going through expansion (2011) on it's south section, finally stretching beyond what was the old, original terminal. This interruption has taken the smaller Rwy 1R/19L and is used as a taxi-way for the larger commercial aircraft. One of the biggest kicks is taking off to the south (19R) on a commercial jet, due to the noise abatement procedures. Full brakes, full power, release, use most of the runway, and you're suddenly 2000 feet up. This is where the pilots pull back on the throttle to keep things quiet for the neighborhoods south of the airport. Sometimes the feeling of weight-loss is very noticeable yet exciting. As was already said, whether flying commercially or privately, this is a well laid out airport. I currently use it about a dozen times a year.
It looks legitimate, even if it doesn't look like it on the
