Practice Field

When I was a student back in 1987 it was a great little field at which to practice.

There was nothing to distract a student pilot.

The short runways are ideal for practicing short field landings and departures.

San Carlos Airport

Flown in several times during flight training. Now San Carlos has a well stocked aviation supply shop, San Carlos Aviation & Supply. They have a fully packed shop and what they don't have Hans will get for you.

Susanville Airport

Landed here early 2013 on an Angel Flight from KPAO. Nice runway, pretty mountanious scenery in and out. FBO (Susanville Aviation) was very helpful and had fuel and oil for us.

Very friendly line service people at Jet Center

Was there very late at night, and even though they were closing up all the staff was very friendly and helpful

re: Unusable no kidding

It is for sale as an airfield. Who are they kidding ?

Picture of

Unusable no kidding

Don'tg even think about it. This is NOT an airfield by ANY definition

Picture of

Unusable

Very uneven, unmowed, very narrow [next to ordhard] , LP gas tank right next to 'runway'.

This might have been a grass strip usable by a Piper cub at one time, but it is NOT SAFE to consider this even in an emergency !

If this was ever used, it has been years. I repeat not safe.

Cool little airport

I flew in here when I was visiting a relative in Kingston (about 15-20 min drive) on 4/24/13. Not the easiest to spot from the air as its surrounded by trees, but its a cool little airport. You can't see both ends of the runway when on the ground - the middle of the runway is at the apex of a hill, hence the name. When on final and right after takeoff you're still below the trees, so its kind of cool actually. Its not clear where you're SUPPOSED to park, but I parked down the hill on the East side of the field on the grass and that seemed to be OK.

All in all its a beautiful area.

WestAir

I have had several experiences with WestAir to rent an airplane or have some flying lessons and it was always satisfactory. In 2011, I had a rough engine on a C172 (problem with the mixing) with an instructor and I was not charged.

Be aware that the airport has the highest number of runway incursions.

Photos of Greater Southwest International Airport, Fort wort

For anyone looking for photos of the Amon Carter Airport (Greater Southwest Int'l Airport) Check with the Univ. of Texas library, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS up on the 2nd floor. The photos were primarily taken by the Ft. Worth Star Telegram and donated to the library. The photos are mostly black and white. They are excellent! I can atest to that. I visited the library about a year ago and was pleasantly surprized at what they have available. Photos can be purchased at $10 per print. Unless you have another outside source, this collection is by far the best I've ever seen. Check them out.

Walker Pre-Flight.

Was the Best place in the world to learn how to fly and instruct. We lost a lot of pilots in the old days and things have changed a bit, 100LL was $1.15 and I remember complaining to Suburban fuel in Mountain View. Been flying and instructing ever since.

KPUJ- Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport

The airport changed names from regional airport to Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport in 2009. Located 25 mi NW of downtown Atlanta, the airport was developed and branded to specifically attract industry and corporate aviation groups that will bring the jobs of the future to Paulding County.

A charming location

Years ago, when I didn't know of the existence of this aerodrome, I was driving on Jog Road and suddenly I see an small single engine high-wing airplane approaching at 90 degrees from my direction, very close to the ground and dissapering behind some trees. Honestly I thought that was some kind of emergency-crash landing.

I made a totally illegal U-turn to check the situation. And wow!, to my surprise I see the aircraft, very confident, taxing around on a grassy landing strip.

Even up today, this aerodrome in the middle of a residential area, still looks like a cool oddity to me.

Awesome

One of very few airports in the USA , which has so much of general aviation activity

Picture of

autism

airplanes burn kerosene which is very dirty and pollutes the air. pregnant woman breathe the air and the fine particulate (toxins)matter gets into the mother lungs and right into the blood stream into the unborn fetus. and you get autism spectrum disorders. so every time you fly your contributing to the epidemic. check it out for your self. the highest rates of autism in the US are also next to the busiest airports. Hydrocarbons are linked to autism. living down wind from a airport will increase a pregnant woman's chance of having child with autism spectrum. do your own research and ck it out for yourself. happy flying

loser

The guy they have managing that place hates you and the world. He gets an attitude with just about everyone who stops in. If he hates people so much, why is he the manager of anything? What a bunch of sh*t. Doesn't belong in a public position with that attitude. Find out who owns the airport and file a complaint!

Nice Airport along Florida's East Coast - Florida Flyers very helpful with local flying information, tips. Enjoyed a coast line sightsee - views are fantastic.

An easy to locate airport, NE of City, North tip of Newnans Lake. Friendly controllers. Was able to use an available hanger over holidays free of charge (did buy fuel though).

Sticky Fingers! (Sky Harbor Airport)

Sky Harbor is a good and nice Airport, but one thing is don't leave anything behind! I forgot something that was about $200 on a chair at one of the gates...My plan was the last one to land and they were closing it all down for the night since it closed at 1am! My plan landed at 12:30 and I didn't get off till 12:50. I was the last one on the plane to get off. When walking to get my bag the only one behind me was the guy at the ticket stand and some cleaning people! I notice I left my tablet and went back after only 15 mins later and of course it was gone within 15mins! I called the lost and found and of course no one turned it in....I'm sorry but I think someone from the airport that works there took it...I don't care if they tell me no one from there took it *lies*

Fly-in Fish Boil

The Lion's Club of Washington, Island holds an annual fly-in fish boil in the summer (usually, July, I think). It is a novelty, and a great event. If the wx is good, the attendance is usually excellent. BE CAUTIOUS about traffic! The event draws many people who arrive other than by air, so it is a pretty big event. Get there early, so they don't run out of food. It's excellent. What wouldn't taste great if they poured a ladle full of melted butter over it?!? Get the details online, via Google. It's worth the flight, and a neat experience.

re: This airport has not operated in over 35 years. It is c

Somebody needs to alert the FAA then, because it's still in their database and according to them they verified the data with the facility owner in 1993.
