This place never existed

This heliport does not appear to exist. I have looked through aerial imagery archives since 1939 and I saw no (H) around.

re: History Of Rose Aviation on Hawthorne Airport from 1963

I was a line boy there in 1973.

I worked there for while. It was nice place to work. I was an A & P Student at. Northrop Institue of Technology. Her mechanics help me learn about airplanes. They needed me to work more hours. I. Couldn't I was a student studying hard. They "let me go"

Excellent fuel price

This is a typical country airport with great service

Be careful of the adjacent airspace

Picture of rstan

Fantastic

Wonderful country. Airport with cheap fuel and now an AOE.

They roll out the red carpet

Good airport

Landed here June 2017 and again April 2018... nice facility, clean restrooms and lounge. Drinks in the fridge and Chase is a friendly and professional airport manager. They have a courtesy car and can also arrange rental vehicles... ask Chase about that. Decent fuel prices and nice folks... I'll be back!

Nice strip, tie downs and great bunkhouse accomodations

Landed here in April 2018 and found the strip in good shape with solid tie downs. No fbo/fuel, etc., but the Park Ranger will come pick you up and take you over to the visitor center and bunkhouse. Just make a low pass near the visitor center about 1/2 mile west of the strip, then land... the will come pick you up in about 15 minutes. They were very nice, helpful and accommodating. The bunkhouse is quite nice... full cooking facilities, comfortable mens and women's bunks, hot showers and restroom, refrigerators and freezers, etc. No restaurants so you have to bring your own food and drinks. They do sell ice, a few snacks and some drinks at the visitor center.

One of my favorite FBOs to stop at.

Not the smoothest or flattest runway ever.

Beacon Cafe

A great place to fly- or drive-in for food. Not your typical airport cafe.

Small but Pretty!

When I flew into this airport, it exceeded my expectations! I thought for such a small airport, it has to be trashy and dirty! But that is completely false!!! It’s clean and well taken care of, and the workers are amazing. When we go to Naples, we usually fly into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) but we thought we’d change it up and fly here, next time I think we will fly to Miami International Airport (MIA).

re: History Of Rose Aviation on Hawthorne Airport from 1963

I trained at Rose Aviation. Jean gave me my check ride in '72. They had a full A&P facility, ground school and rentals. Those were good times and a fun airport to fly out of.

This airport has been closed for years

Drill down to the runway and you will see old "X"s painted. Further it is covered with very large potholes. Please remove MS23 Forest Home Airport -Boatner Howell

Landshark Bar - dirty

I gave been traveling this terminal for years as a business traveler woth hreat frequency. This bar is filthy. The dtainess, the inside bar walls, the clear counter inserts are crusted with filth on the inside. Shocked at the lack sanitation. I know renovation is in process, but that dies not have to do with keeping it clean and safe from mold, bacteria, infesration....

Picture of

can you fly into this airport

Does the flight from SeaTac airport in Washington State fly directly into Sugar

Land Regional airport using Alaska airlines?

Picture of

Incorrect information

The FAA airport identifier, 21MN, has been reassigned to the Clearwater Seaplane Base, Leonard MN

Picture of

Need for expansion

It'd be great if Syracuse went for another expansion with getting a direct flight to Denver. Paranoia of losing my baggage at Buffalo, LaGuardia or JFK (Again) haunt me and it's quite annoying to jump plane to plane. An intercontinental airport in the middle of the state sounds great.

I Took My Instrument Checkride With Jean

I just stumbled on this string researching Rose Aviation, looking for old pics. I learned to fly at Rose in 1970, 48 years ago. I am still flying professionally today which is a true miracle...

I've wondered what happened to Jean, Rex, Art Olsen, Linda, Don Petersen, Claude Bennet (what a great guy!!). Hopefully someone will have some answers.

Thx

ROSE AVIATION

I worked for Rose Aviation in 1960 to 1962 as a flight instructor. I attained all of my ratings from Jean and Rex and they were kind enough to give me a job. I went to work for Zantop in 1962 and was hired by Delta Airlines in 1963. I lost track of Jean and Rex but have been able to access Jeans past as a WASP during WWII. She was injured in a Piper Apache accident in about 1984 and later died of a blood clot as a result of her injuries. I can't find any reference of Rex. Ken Chirhart, kchirhart@ma.rr.com
