re: Were the last comments left by someone sampling the cent

Yes the Alentejo region is beautiful. Beja Airport can only be an advantage in the future when the global economy and tourism picks up. We have 15 acres of land approximately 12 kilometres from the airport. There are around 40 mature olive trees and planning consent. We also have drawings to build a large villa with pool. We are moving to New Zealand in a year's time and have decided to sell this land. If anyone is interested the cost is Β£85,000. There is electricity nearby and a borehole can be installed very easily. For further information please contact me on 07787 133048. I will be in the Beja region at the end of January for viewings.

Great grass roots airport.

re: Shame on you

Zooming in, I can see that this paved stretch clearly has runway markings and numbers (18/36), so I think it's in the correct location.

re: Shame on you

Thank you for the feedback. OurAirports is a community-maintained site, like Wikipedia, so we're always looking for better information. Do you happen to know the correct location for Okara Airport? Or is this one of the situations (common in some other countries) where a stretch of highway is designated as an emergency landing strip?

Picture of

Shame on you

You are showing a road as a runway.. Making fool to the people.

re: Manhattan and Hudson River Corridor Access

Reply to @willymopit: I've always been treated well at TEB too (I use Atlantic), but I agree about cost of a taxi. There is a bus that stops near the airport and goes to the Port Authority; alternatively, maybe it's possible to take a cab just to the nearest NJ Transit rail station, and get into Manhattan that way. I'll look into it on my next visit.

closest obstacle on apprch rw31

we use lido (lufthansa nav charts) o/b instd of jepps , so this mosque ( Sheikh Zayed) is NOT mentioned or drawn somehow in our app and facility charts . On a night apprch with good visibility to rw31 OMAD I was not expecting to see the minaret above the level of our wingtip (A321) to my left at a distance of approx 250meters which was not incld in our briefing naturally in this case .We were on the glidepath 0.80nm to the rw31 tdz which we were approx. 250agl or some higher maybe ,and the top of the minaret is declared as 350ft or so by wikipedia . So that 's why the MDA is declared as more than 500agl and vis of 2000m for CAT1 ils , I came to the point that even for good visibility needs more outside scan and localizer or other navigation accuracy has to be judged MORE carefully before and during the approach.

Take off weight for catC a/c is well regulated down to 70ies ( tons) for a a/c with normal max 89tons for rw13 and also for rw31 down to 80ies .

Now I am looking for the UAE aips , I hope that they are easily reachable thru the net. DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO OR EXPERIENCE ABOUT THIS ISSUE ?

Manhattan and Hudson River Corridor Access

Landed here to take a couple people residing in Manhattan on a Hudson River flight. First Aviation treated me well, and with the purchase of 20 gallons of fuel, waived the ramp fee. Looked kinda silly parking a C-152 next to all the executive jets, but they gave me first rate service and parking regardless.

Cab ride to Manhattan is exorbitant, need to find a better way!

Excellent fuel stop

Nice little airport with self serve fuel.

My Stomping Grounds

Got my PPL in Manassas (under the original ADIZ) but I call HWY (formerly w66) my homebase. Great little airport.... all it needs is self serve fuel.

longer runway!

well, if this is the reason then I heard over the radio in Vigan that local officials already announced the start of construction. I hope and pray that this be done the earliest time coz malls in Vigan are overtakingly sprouting one after the other. Meaning people are coming heavily to Vigan, the cultural and commercial center, and the center of politics and religion! The church in Vigan is an Archdicoese.

Picture of

reasons for commercial flights to come

Vigan is the old Ciudad Fernandina, the ecclessiastical center of the North, center of education, trade and commerce, a UNESCO protected cultural heritage, it was declared by UNESCO which no one is a UNESCO City except for Vigan. Vigan City is a metropolitan surrounded by 5 municipalities. It is the third oldest city / settlement in the Philippines which is manifested by the old commercial districts and residential structures . It is a tourist center and destination. It is so close to the province of Abra having no airport.

Picture of

Upgrading

needs to put lights along the runway, a tower and a big terminal to attract airlines to operate. Vigan is a very strategic location economically, in military & air defense, because Vigan lies at the shores of the West Philippine Sea near Macau, Hon Kong, Hanoi, Bangkok , Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam).

Great spot to visit

Good restaurants, hotels in town. Excellent airport facilities including servicing by Carl at Tuna Aviation. Short taxi trip to town. You will need a valid ASIC as it's a RPT airport. Only 1.5 hrs from Adelaide and great views along the way.

CHEESE FACTORY RESTAURANT

bloody fantastic burgers and excellent hospitality and a short walk from the airstrip. Will definitely be back.

Great ATC Tower controller

I was coming in at night and the airport is very hard to find among all the other light clutter. A very patient tower controller turned ry30 up full and turned all the other runway lights off to make it easier to find.

Reply to @HomerT: Thank you for the update.

re: Positioning and access

Reply to @HomerT: thank you very much for the comment. That's a long runway for helicopters -- are you certain that STOL fixed-wing aircraft don't use the strip?

re: BA128

Thank you. Here's what the Wikipedia article says about LFJL: "It opened to the public on October 28, 1991 and replaced Nancy-Essey and Metz-Frescaty airports."

I'd love to know the locations of the closed airports - we include those in OurAirports, too, with a red "X" icon.

re: Verwoerd

Thank you both for the discussion - I've updated the airport page.
